Dude, you need to get out of the house more often. I see deer nearly any morn. or evening I take a drive or go to the woods.
Was planning on hittin the stand I just hung N.E. of the Co.
Got a couple blocks from the house an seen the 10 pokin his way toward the river bottom. Glassed him for around 15 min. Walked 90 yds. across from me. I was stopped settin in a school parkin lot.
Respectable, worth settin up on. I had permission to hunt the south end where he went thru. So I had a 50-50 chance. Worth the time an trouble.
Called my bud, he was all up for it.
Dumped him off on the north fence row an I set up on an excape run.
20+ min. into it an 8 came in from behind. He stood 10 yd. dead nutz beside me, looked me over an went directly across me to 20yd. an done a look back, broadside.
Temptation was there, but he was just not what I wanted this early into the season. There are some real nice buck's around right now.
Well, my buddy came on thru, said he caught the track headin north, still pokin along. Picked up a couple other tracks an was on them. I'd already seen those tracks when I went in to set-up.
Told him it was his turn. Found a single track over in the next block. It went thru a bunch of switch grass, I bumped up something, it was going the right direction. A screwed up lookin rack as my buddy described it. 5 little tine's on 1 side an 2 on the other. Said he needed kilt, but woudn't waste a tag on him. Said it wasn't hit or broke, just bad gens. Also said it done the exact same thing I described the other had done.
Bumped 3 more doe's, but they busted out in another direction.
All that happened before 9:30. Snow was pretty much gone by then.
We didn't even try to take a shot, but still consider it a very good hunt.

There are parts of Marion county that are as good as Delaware county. Most of it is as good or better than Morrow. It's got some big bucks, but it's tough to get access to the better properties.
Big Island Wildlife Area produces a stud nearly every year.

Heading out now...the winds were high for a while but after that came the snow. The ground is completely covered. Time for some still/stalk hunting. Good luck to all.

Pretty good chance I would know the area you hunt. I hunted about every peice of dirt between Marion an Galion at one time or another. Was quite the coon hunter in my teens an early 20's.
I have a stand at the old junk yard just west of 100. That pretty tight in the N.E. The block butts up to W. Morrow line, then their's only 1 block N. between me and the Crawford line.
Another good morn. for a two man hunt. Pretty nice sleepin in a bit longer waitin for daylite.
GOTTA LOVE THIS EARLY SNOW.
We got light an my bud's on his way out. Hopfully will have another good hunt. Of coarse anytime in the woods is alway's a good thing.

Hunted this morning. Cold but beautiful out. Could see great with the sno on but didnt see a deer. EIther the bucks are on lockdown or this change in weather has them off their game.
