I posted this in another thread and thought it would be useful.

If you are tired of the crude ring in your muzzleloader from too hot of ignition caused by 209 primers the web pages below may interest you. I had this done to my Pro Hunter last year and am glad that I did. They are much easier to load than 209 primers since they are a little larger. I just keep em in my pocket. Can be reuses over and over. I have about two dozen casings and use the Lee reloading die to reprime.

http://www.prbullet.com/prohntr.htm for a pro hunter

http://www.prbullet.com/hornet.htm for Encore, Omega or CVA users. Look at the bottom of the page.

http://www.prbullet.com/vf.htm other type muzzleloaders may want to try this.

I beg to differ. The Lee reloader for the die primer and the conversion will cost you less than 100 bucks. No more 209 inaccuracy. Your groups will shrink and no more flyers when a 209 pushes your bullet up the barrel before ignition. No more crude ring and the breech will have no more fouling due to blowback. Something to think about when that buck of a lifetime is 100 or so yards out and you think you are dead on. Give your 209s to your buddies who think it is too expensive to reload.

Here is all you need, go to the bottom of the page and for 24.95 you get the whole kit for priming .25 ACP. http://thebuckskinner.com/breech_plug.html

So with the breech plug conversion for 59.95 and 24.95 for the complete Lee Priming tool you are at 85 plus shipping. No more crude ring, no more blow back from 209 and cleanup is a snap. Just look at the breech plug from the original thread I gave you. (http://www.prbullet.com/prohntr.htm) That prohunter was fired all day and no black crude in the breech area, so you don't have to worry about you firing pin cruding up!! To each his own, but I am happy I did the conversion. Also save you money in the long run as you reuse the brass.
