A few of my college teammates and high school buddies (about Five). Wanted to try an get a hog/boar hunt this spring/summer. I have been looking around on the web trying to find some potential places. I live in central Ohio. And attend college outside of Pittsburgh. Does anyone have any information of quality places to go? Either in state or surrounding states. We would also be willing to make a road trip if it would ensure a quality hunt. We have not really talked about finances yet but we are college students we'll figure it out. Any help on the topic would be great. Thanks

Tennessee ....... down around the Smokey's is a good time. I have hunted them down there 3 or 4 times and had very good luck.
You could also try Florida. I am going to wild bore hunt Florida in February.
I was down there last February and seen a lot of them right along I-275 just right out side Tampa so I am planning to try that area out when I am down this winter. I under stand there are a lot of them down there just running wild.
You can hunt them in Ohio but you have to be down in the South East part and your going to maybe see one or two or you may just set around and not see a thing. Can you could go to a place to pay to hunt them and they are closed in a big area hear in Ohio.

Good Luck

June is tough because of the heat. If you could go in Februrary or March I'd recommend taking a road trip to Florida and hunt some of their WMA's.

Zaleski State Forrest is the rumored place in Ohio that has the highest concentration.

free range hogs in ohio are very hard to find ya have to put alot of time and money into finding them i have been hunting them in ohio for years and closest i have got is just under a half mile but there are some in knox county , that some one let loose, vinton county has highest number of sightings down the zeleski state forrest , barnesville in belmont county has a few sightings every year , there has even been some sightings here in harrison county , i found some old wallows while squirrel hunting.

properties around closed down high fence ranchs are your best bet if your gonna do a free range hunt but getting permission to hunt those properties is a fun task in its own, texas has alot and i mean alot of wild hogs , georgia, florida are close seconds to texas , google hog hunting in those states and you will find lots of places to hunt them , michigan has a very good number of wild hogs taken every year there is a forum on our sister site michigan sportsman that is updated pretty regularly, but in my opinion the money your gonna spend on going out of state to hunt them you could pay for a garunteed hunt here in ohio.

dd ranch is the cheapest at around 500 dollars , they have good sized hogs and is an ok ranch.

white oak is much bigger then dd ranch and theyre hogs reproduce on the property , if i remember right white oak is 1000 acres or bigger, not exatcly sure on size but i know its huge, most ranchs will give discounts on multiple hunters in a party.
im expanding to other states next year in my pursiut of wild hogs , i know there is some in pa, new york, kentucky , tennesse,

one guy in barnesville has hog dogs he has taken alot of hogs in belmont county , you can get ahold of him through www.ohioboarbusters.com (http://www.ohioboarbusters.com) his name is kurt holstrom he has pics of hogs taken from belmont county, and i just heard two days ago there was a wild hog that was almost hit by a car out near piedmont lake , i dont know if it was a tame one that got loose or an actual feral hog but i plan on finding out tomorrow , they are tuff here in ohio cause they are constantly on the move very rarely stick around in one place to long

Same boat her DR. Pepper. I did some hog hunting down in AL., a few years ago with good results. and eversince I heard they moved up here I have been looking while hunting deer and squirrels. No results so far. Michagan has 63 counties now that are getting over run, might be a close opportunity.
