Great day on public land today!

My g/fs dad and I went to hunt some pheasants today on public land. They were released on thursday so we firgured by sunday the rest of the hunters would be burnt out. We took his boiken (sp) spaniel and my lab. What a great display of dog work today, if I must say. His dog is a seasoned vet at it, but leo is a duck dog, not a upland dog. Leo ended up having 2 flushed of pheasants and 2 woodcock flushes! Ya thats right woodcocks, and I shot both of em! It was a wonderful day, two pheasants and two bonus woodcocks!

Congrats...good shooting....i havent ever had the chance to shot a woody....everytime my dogs decide to find one...we are training and i have no gun...lol

Nice pics! Good job to you and the dog.

I luv shootin woodcocks. They make an unmistakable noise. I usually always hear them before I focus in on them.

The only one I've seen this year was while I was squirrel hunting. I was trying to find a downed squirrel when I flushed it.

I shot a woodcock this afternoon out at Metzgers. I was walking in to my spot and he flushed. Steel #7's at 20yds.

wow thats great...theres one spot in our huntin area where these bird come to naturally...i used to jump them every yr. there but havent been over there for a few yrs. now...:biggrin:
