Has anyone bought a Mauser from Low-Tech? I sent them a Boyds laminated stock and bought a barreled action from them and I just got it. I'll sum it up with one word. Beautiful! These folk do fantastic work. Have to scope it yet and i haven't shot it but if it shoots like it looks I'll be one happy guy. Check them out at www.guns-shop.biz/

First off: welcome aboard! We're always happy to have someone new to share our wisdom with. Most of us here should have a B.S. degree while some should really have a P.H.D.(Piled Higher & Deeper :D )
Any ways, I clicked on the site & didn't get any where. Is the address right?
Tell us more about this "Beauty."

vvarmitr, Thanks for the welcome. You're right about not getting anything. I put an S too many. Try www.gun-shop.biz/

These folks sporterize your Mauser but if you don't have a favorite they can supply you with one for a very reasonable price.

I sent them a Boyds laminated stock and they mounted a 308 win barreled action that looks like it's new. The blueing is done to perfection, real dark like on a Weatherby.

Quite frankly, for the money I was not expecting the job to be as fantastic as it was. This rifle looks like it's newand I'm very happy with their work.

Best of luck...Cag

Thanks for the info. I was able to link off of the site & found some other info I've been looking for. I too love that deep, rich blueing! Did he put on a horizontal safety?
I have a Swedish Mauser that I'm not really pleased w/. Maybe this would be a way to go. The only problem is he's is from the Carolinas. Some dumb reason I have problems w/ people from there. Even now I'm in a situation w/ someone from there that I would like to show some frointier justice.
One of our main posters, Thunderflight, is stationed down there. I hope they don't ruin him before they send him back. Maybe we'll have to send him on a suicide mission if we can't straighten him out. (and he was such a good poster too :( )

vvarmitr, He put a Buehler safety. Actually flips upwards for safe and down for fire. Just clears the scope too.

I'm from Miami, Florida. Everything here as far as gunsmiths go is expensive and you can't undertake any rifle building projects from here without spending an arm and a leg. Anyhow he's a transplant in So. Carolina, my understanding is he was from Texas, if that will help.LOL

Best of luck...Cag:D

ME & TIME! I haven't had or taken enough time to work on a load, but w/ the different loads I've bought for it, it doesn't group. Maybe I'm to picky being a varminter & all. If it don't group 1", I loose interest. :(

Whats your favorites varmitr?

Generally what I have in hand at the time. :D
I know that's not a fair answer' but it is real close to the truth. I do dearly love the 222Rem. It just seems to shoot no matter what you put in it (in most cases). I enjoy the sub-calibers(smaller than .224). I had a 17Rem in their classic model. I just put together a 17Ackley Hornet for Coyote Kate. We've only shot it 10 times & it doesn't crack much, more like a high speed spit. :D
I never owned a rifle bigger than a 6mmRem. for the longest time, then I got that 6.5x55 Swed. I had heard sooooooo much about them being such a great cartridge. Maybe I misunderstood what they meant when they said "It'll shoot rings around your other guns." I know now! It'll put holes in all the other rings around the bug-hole group from my 22-250Rem(formerly known as the 22 "VARMINTER" ;) ) I have a 6mmBR in a pistol that I would like to spend more time with. :( A 243Win in a Browning lever action I bought as a quick handling gun for coyote, & what a SWEET combo!(this rig won't be leaving the house anytime soon!
There that is just a few of my favorites. Not to mention the 20ga w/deer slugs, the 12ga w/buckshot, the 45LC, 357Mag, 223, 6mm/244Rem, 218Bee, & the list will go on, & on.
Thanks for asking, Lunker.
How about you, what are your fav's?

I own 2 guns. So they are my favorite so far. :D My 12 guage Mossberg 500 and my Remington 22. I used my Grandpas 20 guage single shot for the longest time and wiped out alot of rabbits with it. Now I have to get my 12 guage Stoeger over and under out of layaway. I am looking for a real tack driver now.

I'm not sure, but I think you are baiting me on that last comment?
You are wanting a tack driver for what? Groundhogs? Out-of-state deer? Maybe just a paper puncher? Are you going to be doing your own reloading? Are you wanting this to be a combo gun for g'hog/deer?
My answer is Savage in 22-250 or 243. Then buy as good a scope as you can. It is perfectly legal to spend more on the scope than the rifle, & if you can do it; more power to ya. ;)

Shot my rifle after scoping it and it shot real good groups. Had to shim the scope as the base did not clear the ramp like it should. I 'm really happy with the work done in this rifle. It's a beauty and it shoots like a house of fire! First load I developed is a keeper. I have a few other rifles and this one is the one that has given me the easiest time finding a load and a shooter right from the box.:D

Cag: don't you just love it when that happens. What are you hoping to use this for?

Lunker: I'm not into combo guns. I'd rather have a gun for every situation. :D If you aren't going out of state any time soon for deer I would go w/a varminting caliber. They're such a pleasure to shoot more & the more you shoot the better you become. If you don't reload I would only consider the 223 or the 22-250. There are a lot of different loads for them out there, & anybody that sells ammo has at least a box or two for each if they know what they're doing.
