This is a buck I almost get a shot of last Sunday as he was chasing a doe and a fawn. The doe ended up taking the trail to my shooting lane but this guy changed trail at last second leaving me with no shot. I will spend the whole next week trying to put him down. I think I got some good spots to hunt him in between two major bedding areas. Any suggestions that might help me get closer is welcome. Also any ideas on age and score???

Looks like a nice buck! My first archery buck had a dark chocolate rack. The only suggestion that i have for you is to be in the woods as much as you can. You have him moving in daylight hours, and it is just time before he comes close enough for a shot. Sounds like you know where he is at also. Good luck to you and i hope you get him in shooting range.

Yeah, Im planning on some all day hunts as it looks that temps will drop next week. When I saw him it was around 4pm, so I think he could be out at anytime from now on.

Well, I only had one encounter with this deer while hunting plus these pictures. He never showed up again or heard of him being shot in the area. I did however seen a couple smaller bucks with the same rack color which could be his offspring but again I am not sure if chocolate racks are as common as white racks.
It makes me think that he was just cruising my farm looking for does and that he does not live around.
I just hope he made it for next year and he comes back.
How old you think he is?
