Any of you use calls when huntin squirrels and how much success have you had. I have a couple calls but I think they are pretty much worthless. Or maybe I'm not doing it right. Maybe I'm just a fool for buying the call. I 've heard alot of tricks over the years to help calm them rodents into a false sense of security but none of them seem to work with any noticable success.
2,
I pick up 2 small rocks and put them in my palm and then rub them together with the one hand, it sounds like one cutting a nut. My son Zac call in one last fall and killed it, this was his first to kill, he is only 8 now.

I don't have any store bought squirrel calls, but I did read one time of how you can curl your tongue back to the roof of your mouth & then suck air over your tongue. I can make some pretty mean squirrel barks. I remember this one time I tried it & this BIG buck gray squirrel answered me back. I barked back that I thought he was a sissy chipmunk, & he came a barken at me tellin me how he was agonna whoop my arse & probably would have if I hadn't remembered I had the shotgun before he cleared that last 20 feet.

only one ive ever tried that actually worked is something like 7th was talking about but it was a nylon bolt 1/2" fine thread type i think and a piece of flat plastic and you ran it down the nylon bolt and it sounded like a squirrel cutting . i think it was mostly curiosity wandering who was eating his walnut that made em come looking.
but it actually worked

Here Squirrel, Squirrel, Squirrel.
Anyone whom uses a squirrel call should be locked up for being squirrel bait!

I have used something like 7th but you use 2 quarters and rub the sides together. sometimes it works and someimes it dont,(somtimes they fell like a nut somtimes they don't. I figered I would say it before some one elso did)

I bought one a few years back just out of curiosity, but I can't say it really helped any. Sometimes you can use it to try and get them to bark back at ya to locate them, but thats about it.
On another note, my dog loves it as a toy. I got one that has the rubber boot on the end and she's sit there for hours with it in her mouth making it bark. Gets annoying, but I can tell everyone my dog is bilingual and speaks fluent squirrel :D

The only squirrel sound I like is the one where they hit the ground with a .22 cal hole in their head.:D
