Last night I drew my hoyt kobalt with my new release in my living room last night. I bumped the trigger and the bow fired accidentally. The limbs and cams look like new, I even looked the the limbs over with a magnafineglass. The axles are fine as far as I can tell as well. The bus cables also look fine but the draw string has one strand broken where the peep sight was served in. I feel so stupid I beat myself up over it last night. If I replace the draw string do you think the bow will be safe to shoot what other damages could have happened.
Stupid!!!

Stoneking is correct. I did the same thing only I actually forgot to put an arrow in. I think that may be worse. I would take it to your local bow shop...not bass pro or cabellas go to an actual bow shop and tell them what you did. They know exactly what to look for.

If you had all the latest sound dampening gadgets attached and you can't see any visible signs of damage then your probably OK.
Shoot it a few times and if it sounds or feels weird then take it to a pro shop and tell them something is wrong with the bow. Don't admit to dry firing it though. I could be wrong, but that might void your warranty.

Important question...is the riser machined aluminum?

Why would that make a differance, but I think it is its a new bow.

Well if the riser is aluminum you can at least get scrap value for it. :D
Everyone has given you good solid advise. Your limbs are probably warrantied, just don't tell them you dry fired it.

most likely you are ok like i said i'v done it a few times to the same bow they will take more of a beating that people think. make sure every thing is tight and the limbs aren't cracked change the string and shoot it. it will bust a string befor it will damage the limbs.

Your seriously going to get someone hurt. If it was okay to dryfire any bow, why would it void a warranty? I would say your extremely lucky.

To check for minute cracks in you fiberglass limb rub it all over and every direction with a dry cotton ball.. If it pulls cotton thats a crack.. Have the bow inspected by a dealer, tell them you can hear a ticking sound... :)

How about Put an arrow on the dang thing and don't worry about it..... I have a hole in my kitchen cabinet because a "friend" wanted to try and draw my bow.. I told him to let it down slowly, but the bow is all go when it wants to come out of the valley and he tapped the release.... Instead of my bow exploding I just have a nice hole in the lower kitchen cabinet... good trade if you ask me..

Every limb I have ever seen cracked looked perfectly fine until the limbs were flexed, then the crack will open back up under pressure and look perfectly fine when deflexed. This doesn't mean draw your bow while your girlfriend looks your limbs over:D . Possibly you can flex the limb with out pulling the string, but most likely put it lightly in a bow vise.
There's NO WAY I would pull back a compound bow if I'm thinking there may be a crack. That's flippin suicide. Take it to someone who can look it over and have THEM pull it back after they have given it a clean bill of health.
I'd rather not look like this....

I took my bow to vances this morning and they replaced the draw string. looked over the limbs really good in the bow press. They even took the axles and cams off the bow everything checked out and I had them replace the ball bearings.
