I got on stand around 6:10 this morning, heard a deer walk by about 10 min later but it was way to dark to see what it was. I didnt hear or see anything until 7:40 when a beagle and a terrier came about 40 yards from me barking their heads off for no reason I can figure except they smelled me. I literally had to make a noise to scare em off. I figured my morning was done for but about 8:00 I seen two yearlings running at me, they came down a trail up to my stand and then cut off into some thick stuff. A couple seconds later this old gal came strolling along and stopped about 13 yards away. She only gave me a quartering toward and heard me draw but it was too late. I double lunged her and barely nicked the stomach. Luckily nothing leaked out....I opened her stomach and it was loaded completely with acorns...guess I was in the right spot this morning.
Side note, I had been hunting this stand the last few days and consistently seening deer at 40 yards, I moved my stand closer last night and this morning is paid off.
