I cannot wait until the corn comes down. Almost all of my hunting areas are Agriculture. While in the stand again tonight I saw antlers moving back and forth through the stocks. In my area where I am going after 'Mr. Bojangles' or the other big 8 they are going from CRP field to stream in fence row to corn and then back. No where to put a stand and I am afraid of trouncing the area by putting out my ground blind. Any thoughts???or should I let patience prevail and hope they stay in the are after the corn is down...which I think they will. At least hope and pray they do.:dizzy:

I have not seen a deer in the big woods yet this year:irked:

Go in one day and put your blind up.Cover it with the shocks of corn and leave it alone for a week then go back in and hunt it if the wind is right. The deer will get used to it being there.Or just wait til the corn comes down :bouncy:

Start ground hunting the ground. Find a few spots where the deer consistently cross that stream or fence and build a couple ground blinds.

You don't have to be in a tree stand to kill a big buck. Since the deer aren't used to being hunted from the ground the odds for your success are much better.

You don't need an expensive pop up blind either. Cut out a spot in the weeds and brush it up with cornstalks, cut weeds, and branches.

I love these situations i would get about 10 or 15 yrds off that trail and sit in some tall grass or weeds just sit on the ground and wait. there are no new tree stands and ground blinds for them to see and get used to just make sure the wind is right.

Thanks guys. I have a natural ground blind all the way down with a 500 yard overgrown fence row. The problem with that is they come out at different places with what seems to be no rhyme nor reason. I'll do it Sunday morning at the closest trail with wind in my face or crossing. Of course, if the wind is right.

I have to agree with the ground tactic. Whether its on the hedgerow or in the corn itself. I personally am a "make stuff happen" kind of hunter.

I am generally a "make it happen" type of hunter also. But I have 4 shooter bucks on this 100 acre property that I am affraid of boogering it up so early in the season. I moved my stand to the very edge of an inside corner actually overlooking the corn. I will be in it in the morning. I will let you all know how it goes.

haha, He too has outpowered me on the occassional morning. I also know what you mean about not wanting to pressure the shooters out of your area. I guess it's a day to day thing as to what the tactic will be. I know that's how I am. Constantly checking whatever camera I'm walking by to see what's moving when and from where. The key is to stick with it, eventually, it's going to get cooler, the days are going to get shorter, and they're going to be seeking and chasing! Thank god for the rut!
