Oh,

I made it in OK today Ray. Nice to finally "hook up". Had some really nasty rain storms on the way back to Dayton. Took about 2.5 hrs.....a little more than the drive up.

We'll surely have to do that again. If any of the others on here play golf (or not), we could have the OhioSportsman "Official Golf Outing".

nice track Ray, had a great time!

I figured it out OLDHAT, I missed 12 Legit birdie tries today, now that sucks. But I had a great time with the driver and the irons, so I didn't completely stink it up ... I guess. We both stuck some good irons today and hit some real nice bombs off of the tee. Ya'll can keep the flat stick to yourselves!

OLDHAT:

Glad you made it home safely. And please, be sure to let me know when you can go hit the ball around some more. PM me when you get time. It was nice to meet you and and your wife today. Give my best to the family. Keep me in your prayers on the putting surface and we will do just fine when we partner up for that tournament. We are oooozing with talent if we just use it!

I don't think that is "talent" oozing from us Ray, can't really tell you what it is that is "oozing", but to be on the safe side don't step in it because it smells a bit harsh.

Nice Par!!!!!!!!!!!!:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

OK, maybe we aren't "oooozing" with talent, but we have the ability to play very well. Thanks for the confidence booster with the"Par" comment. You truley are one of the boys in my mind, they treat me the same way! I still believe we would make a great two man team be it scrambles or best ball.

I'll second that on the two man best ball or scramble. Once I get my ping back, I'll be swinging the driver a lil' better.

Actually "on the dance floor", I used the putter club 27 times. That's my Typical. If you add in the "use the putter to run it up off the short-hair", then it's at 32.

If I don't "skank it" off 10 (1) after feeding the ducks, and if I sink one of those short birds, then I'm right around "even".

Did you ever take your PAT? If so, then you can join one of the "Ohio Pro" thingy things and they play ever Monday and travel...Pro Am stuff. The one down here is called the "Southern Ohio PGA"......they play at mostly CC's and every Monday, be it Pro-pro, Pro-AM, Pro-3am's, etc. If so, pay your dues, and I'd make the trip up to play in a few w/ya. I was the "AM" for a lot of the pro's over the previous few years...just checking.

Also, keep your eye open for an "open" tourny for the guy I am sponsoring. When the wife said "so he can win back some money we gave him"......she wasn't joking, I been supporting him, his wife, and 2 kids for about 6 months now....gotta keep the kid busy and earn a return on my investment..he's truly one of the better golfers I've ever seen, but he just has that little "problem" I mentioned.

Also, in the next day or so I am gonna get in touch with my buddy and see about getting us on Sylvania CC.

I will try to find us a two man scramble or a best bal tournament to hit. Actually I have a samller tourny coming up in September that I mentioned to you that would be neat to have you come up to if you are interested. I think it's on Sept. 21 at a place I use to play a lot Woodlawn Golf Club. It's in Adrian Mi. A short track, but you sytill have to hit the shots. They are doing a scotish for six holes, Best ball for six holes and a scramble for six holes. Not a huge money game, but it would be fun, I can tell you that. Maybe that interest you????

As for the other Ohio pro things, I guess I haven't heard of it. I will check it out and see if I can get involved with that so we can doing some more golfing together on some "legit" tracks.

I caught the "little" comment about the guy you are sponsoring. Sounds like unless he produces, he may be out (so to speak) I will keep an eye out for you on the tournament situations for him.

I would play Sylvania in a minutes notice. I'm talking you could call me at work at 10:00 for a 10:25 tee time and I would be there 10 minutes early. It's a great track and you will love it.

By the way OLDHAT , no I never took the "Player Ability Test". But I hear it's in Akron on some "goat farm" and that just about anyone with half of a golf swing can shoot the minimum 78 twice in a row. The kid I teach with on Monday just passed it, and he seems to think I could do it with "no problem". Ya never know I guess.

RJ:

Yep, the PAT is usually "nothing". Pair of 78's and that's it. One of my good golfing/college buddies took his in Columbus. Forget the name of the course, but it was a sweet track. He was "medalist" with 68,70. He's a ringer though, he hits it pretty well. I guess he and I have went "head-to-head" about 150-200 times, and I've only got in his pocket about 50 times, the rest I'm donating.

I'll check on Sept 21st. Hard for me to plan that much in advance. But, it's something I wouldn't mind doing. Hook me up w/the details and we'll go from there.

Gonna go try and find me a new "scoring wedge"....need that puppy, those little pw's from inside of 60 yards are tough. You probably did not notice, but I hate sand wedges. The Taylor made I used to chip/pitch/bunker with is a "gap wedge". I gave up the sand wedge about 5 years ago. I can throw that little punch spin shot in w the pitching wedge with a lot more accuracy than a high sand wedge. But, the gap wedge (which should be perfect for the 80 yard and in shots) I use, I can't hit that sucker over about 50 yards...and that's if I blast it. Looking for a decent scoring wedge, 53 degree's.....any suggestions? I'm thinking about having that extra Titleist wedge (981) that I hit bent 2 degrees and trying it....dunno?

Putting tip:

Straight Back, Straight thru
Leave blade "square" and going on line to target
Left shoulder "high", keeps the putter "low" on the way back and thru.....should try to keep the putter "on the ground" during your follow thru....works wonders....I practice the straight back/straight thru by setting 2 2X4's on the floor parallel giving just enough room for the blade to not hit......feels weird, like your taking it back to hit a big ol slice, but it works.....gotta keep it simple!...Watch Phil...that's where I picked it up from...dude has a sweet a$$ putter stroke! With me, all I have to do is "see the line", and I pretty much can get it rolling on it w/ the straight back straight thru move.

Man doesn't that really bite ,it seems like every summer they hammer us to with overtime, but come winter it slows down,Which that does not bother me that much either,I guess i would rather work during the summer than during hunting season.
