I was just over on MS.com checking out their harvest thread for their contest....needless to say I was disgusted by the lack of attempt to take good photos. Nearly all of them were in garages, trucks, the back of a van or something, in the yard beside the driveway with the vehicles and house in the background. Blood everywhere, tongues hanging out all over the place, even one belly up after it was gutted and you can see the ice packs inside. I was highly disapointed that those guys didnt take the time to take semi decent pics....I would like for us to not fall in the same category this fall. Remember guys, if you wouldnt put the pic in a magazine then why post it online??

Good thoughts Buck Slayer. I would agree. I will do my best to be as decent and professional about my pics as possible.

So you're saying I can't take a picture of me and my deer with the arrow sticking out of it's shoulder, me with a busch light can in one hand, my coon dog at my side along with my uncle, father, brother, and that guy from the quickie mart that tagged my deer in, and all the junk cars sitting in my yard in the background?! Man, that ain't gonna be easy...

I've always tried to take the most tasteful pictures possible...

Good call buckslayer. I've always though the same. I understand though that the killing of a deer is an exciting thing and hunters don't put the photo aspect at the top of the list. Afterall we don't hunt for the chance at a nice photo, well necessarily. :)

I don't know how many photos I see with blood everywhere, toungue hanging out, gun on the deer pointing toward the hunter or camera guy, beer can, smokes (sorry swanny)......Last year there was a photo on the DNR's site of a doe that was shot in the head with it's eyeball hanging out and all, thankfully it was only up for a day before it was pulled.

If you can remember it folks, try to take a decent photo.

Well then, what's your ugly mug doing in all the pictures then... :mischeif:

j/k Hiller The thing I hate seeing is the picture of a deer in the back of a truck, or hanging up in the garage dripping blood on the concrete floor. Don't know why, but those always bothered me the most...

I remember a member here a while back that no longer posts, giving me crap about taking the time to take decent photos of my deer. Let me tell you one of my biggest regrets. When I killed my big buck in 2004, I had only killed a few other deer and quality pictures were not part of what I did. I have no quality field photos of my buck, or my Dad's big one, and it rips me up when I think about it.

I could go on and on about this subject. I was totally disgusted this year when Michael Waddell and David Blanton both did their "hero shots" on MB XVI with the arrow still stuck in the deer. BuckSlayer is dead on here. Show some respect for the animal and represent yourself and the rest of us in a professional manner.

Setting up this picture took mere seconds and it will be one I forever treasure. You should do the same for yourself...

I am guilty of all of the above. I know better but in the excitement of the moment I aleays miss something. My son's first deer pic last year has the gun pointing at me, I never noticed till it was too late.(the gun was unloaded but that does not matter)
I just get too excited, I'm going to try and put more effort into it this year.

You can also take pics in your truck or with all the nasty stuff in them, but that doesnt mean you need to show everyone. Keep them to yourself.

In an attempt to not disappoint anyone here, could any one put me in touch with a professional photographer in NE Ohio? :mischeif:

I have a problem with my current photographer. You see my current photographer show up with a 12/24 pack of beer then gets drunk really fast before my photo shoot. He says he's too poor to buy a cooler so we should drink them before they get cold:confused: Before I know it he is telling to pick up that gross piece of flesh and pretend to drop it in my mouth as he snaps a photo.:coco:

whats wrong with truck picks, i for 1 do not feel like moving the deer in and out of the truck acouple times. I hunt by myself so i have to wait until i get home to have someone take my pic.
