Although I dont call myself a buckeye fan I do root for them becuase I live here and the fact that I do pledge an allegiance to the BIG TEN. Truth be told I am a Penn State fan. I seriously think that something needs to be done with OSU's coaching staff. I think Tressel could stay but your defensive coordinator is a joke. Either that or he needs to be locked in a room until he realizes that you cant defend against SEC, and PAC 10 teams like you defend aginst other Big Ten teams. I will tell you that I have never been more disappointed or ticked off at a team or game as I am tonight, and I dont even consider OSU my team.

If all you OSU fans want to just settel for the fact that you beat Michigan every year and win the Big Ten than great but wouldn't it be nice with all that talent to start winning National Championships or at the very leat big non-conference games.

By the way Pryor should have started the second half, Boeckman was scared shi&*less!!!

i agree that pryor should have replaced boeckman.he was definately moving the ball much better.
now, they got outplayed no doubt about it but i think the officiating in the 1st half absolutely stunk.

Officiating gets worse everyyear I agree. But I truly think once again that loss was due to poor coaching. The buckeyes got outcoached.

GOOD MORNING OHIO!!!!

I agree there OHBOW.......Inever liked a 2 quarterback rotation, last time we did that was with Zwick and Smith and Smith won......look for Pryor to be starting soon!

The bottom line last night is OSU got beat in all phases of the game......the line play with all that experience and having the results that they are having is unexcuseable.

It isn't all Boeckman either...the coaches have him rolling out of the pocket and he is a pocket passer, he has no mobility.

They are transforminy the offense to Pryor, so the transformation will be soon, by the look of the results.

Defense also is to be blame for last nights loss, did not execute, made mistakes and missed assignments. Penalties also were a factor.

You can't do that with good teams.

Our Linebackers, if I had to rate them would be "D" on last nights performanace. USC's defense played a great game!

USC Has improved dramatically from last year with young talent.

OSU with 20 returning Seniors have not stepped it up and made a progression to be an elite team.

Their ranking will drop into the teens next week.

They have a lot of work to do!!!!

This OSU TEAM was beat in the trenches...badly......

GO BUCKS!!!!

I dont feel it was matter of the defense not executing, rather I think their whole defensive scheme was complete garbage. They should have blitzed alot less because thats when they were burned, and should have been in bump and run the whole game.

Offensively they needed to let Pryor air it out a few times, they wouldn't have expected it.

I agree on a few points.

But our lack of execution of the defensive schemes were a large role. Missed assignments is a form of execution with defensive schemes and we had 2 touchdowns to their tight end and Williams where they were wide open and not covered.

Our Blitzing early on was ineffective!!! It caused our secondary to do more when we did not get to the QB, causing missed assignments and mistakes. They also caused our line to penetrate too deep in some cases and create large holes in the middle and secondary of our defense. Sanchez played a great game and made good decisions.

Mistakes, penalties negating a touchdown in a crucial part of the game, play calling, we can go on for a while.....but in A NUTSHEEL...we got beat in all phases of the game!

Their Offensive Line completely handled what we threw at them, and they deserve all the credit.

Pryor still has a lot to learn...but boeckman contnue to start is in jeopardy...especially with the way they used him when they rolled him out of the pocket, which is not his strength....the writing is on the wall for Boeckman from the start of the season....the offense is being tailored for Pryor.

USC is playing real well right now and are the #1 Team in the Country and after watching other teams yesterday, Georgia, does not impress, and Mizzou is also playing real well.

Penn State like I said over the summer is a team to watch as well. They are pounding teams right now and playing well.

OSU needs to regroup and get to work!!!

The Good news Yesterday.......UM got their lunch handed to them in South bend!

I blew the whole day watching football yesterday...it's not raining right now...time to get out to a few of my properties and get some scouting and other work done!!!

GO BROWNS TONIGHT!!!

I totally disagree; the schemes we had were solid and Heacock had the right plan in place. The problem was absolutely execution; our guys did not execute.

And before you bash the LB play back up and watch the game again. It all starts up front - our DTs are SOFT. Ray Lewis would not have shined in this game; the O line for USC totally humiliated our DT - blew them up and were into out LB on 80% of the plays. You can't make a play with 2 guys in your and if our DT could have contained the USC O line you would have seen better LB play.

In my mind the better team won. OSU is the same team we were last year and we have two glaring weaknesses when playing top shelf teams - QB play and D line play. Sure, the O-line had some breakdowns, but overall weren't that bad. The fumble was the RB positions fault - they didn't pick up their man. That's where Beanie is missed - he rarely misses his assignment and has the size to take anybody on.

The good news is that we are still a good team - #1 "No", but we are good.
The better news is that our lower level classes DO have what it takes to play with and beat anybody and as our young talent transitions you will see a team that can play with anybody in the country.

I agree with this whole heartedly. The defensive scheme is the same old song and dance against FL, LSU, & now USC. Execution my hind end! We have top shelf talent on the outside and they never get put in press man to man coverage. Then a blitz might actually work! We get burned on that soft zone crap in every big game!

I don't know that Pryor should be the starter, but for an upper classman Boekman made a LOT of poor judgements and mistakes and did not show much poise after the 1st two series.

USC is a better team, but that should have been a 7 pt game and not the embarrasment that it was.

I think many of you Buckeye fans are ignoring how poorly this team has played for 3 consequetive games. A coach can only put the players in a position to make plays - our guys have not made plays at all in 2008.

Critter - for us to play man on the outside against that USC team is a laugher.
They would have had 50 before halftime - say whatever you want, but our guys can't cover their WRs and our staff knew it - hence the zone. And we didn't play a "soft" zone all game; we also ran several different blitz packages, but either got burnt on the offensive play call, or it was picked up by the far superior O line play of USC leaving us a man short and a hole in the middle of the field for a team that knows the tight end has hands. The blitz schemes were actually pretty agressive - they were just weren't effective 90% of the time.

If our guys don't start making plays and coming together they will lose at least 2 league games. We have the most talented team, but they aren't playing physical enough and aren't executing worth a darn.

Next week should tell us something - Troy is a fast, athletic team (no not USC). If we don't come out and completely dominate them I think it is time to start looking at the younger players (especially O line) - our seniors look like they think they can show up and win and they are sorely mistaken.

On the "big picture" there isn't a team in the nation that would go into LA and beat them at home IMO. Although you can see how bad Sanchez is when he gets ANY pressure - he is not Palmer, ML, etc. YET. USC doesn't need him to be great - they have too many players around them. They could probably win 10 games with Pete playing QB:biggrin:

Yep..agree! There was no way our D was going to be able togo Man to Man.

Also...IMO...I think our "Senior" players have not raised it to another level...period!

The expectation in my mind is that would be better in 2008, improved to the point where our returning "stud" starters were back and better than in 2007.

Where they would dominate and improve our team, and show their worth to the potential Future NFL.

Obviously, they just want to get through the year, and don't seem motivated, like all the talk about being #1.

Maybe they "think" they left it all on the field at USC......But I think otherwise.

I also agree they still are very good, and if they gel, and the Offense begins to get into some sort of Rhythm, and they can define their "style of play", I think they will move forward and improve.

The offense just doesn't seem like it is clicking on all cylinders....and some of those reasons have been discussed here.
