I would try several out of the box ammo in different grains, try as many as you can afford. You will find one it likes and from 150 to 180gr is plenty for deer. I bought like 5 different boxes of shells to try through mine and my Ruger 06 liked 165 gr boat tailed in Federal Premium. Best groups at 100 and 200 yards, within a quarter and touching at 100 and 50 cents at 200. :)

Allow the barrel to cool and clean it when switching ammo for best accuracy testing. Good luck.

You can also get 110 grain for varmints :D

I really like the Federal 150 and 180 grain Barnes tripple x. they shoot very well out of my 30-06.

expensive but great.

Like everyone said, you gotta try'em and see how they shoot. From a raw knockdown power erspective though my buddy in MI has used 150 gr. remingtons for quite awhile and his deer ALWAYS drop where they stand.

Agreed. I used 150 gr. for PA, they don't go far:D
