I took off last saturday morning and threw out some of that throw and grow on the new property I will be hunting this year...Nothing big really..prolly about an area that was about 40ft x 40ft. just raked and threw the seeds down...I guess I couldn't have picked a better time cause I think it rained like 2 or 3 days later...Well we went back by it the other day and that stuff is already like 6 inches high...I was very impressed and satisfied with that stuff..And to top it all off there was a nice size buck print in the mud a few yards from it...I think it cam time..Going to put one out there today and leave it till prolly the middle of next week to see whats in there...hopefully it worth hunting it...SOOO i guess if your looking for a quick food plot cause you waited till just now to realize you want one...give the throw and grow a try...its quick and easy

I'm curious as to how you know that track belonged to a buck? :)

What seed/brand did you throw down?

You can tell by the size as to whether it is a Big Buck or smaller meaning yearling buck, doe, or fawn.
Check this link it helps to define different size patterns.

that throw and grow stuff, read it carefully, it says loaded with "ph booster"
alright you have a what,10 lb bag? now is it "loaded" with "ph booster" (its really fertilizer to get it to shoot up quick, ok so 80% of that bag is fertilizer, the rest is rye grass, maybes a few seeds of whatever else they claim to have in the mix.
So now you have rye grass, which grows quick already, with fertilizer to help it grow quick. yes it grows quick, and in that small of an area it really does not benefit the deer at all.

Its what you call a hunting plot. There are two types.....destination and hunting plot

yeah, i know that people make "hunting plot" or "staging plots" typically in more cover and in the woods before a destination plot which is typically a large area.
But how long do you think a 40ft square of throwgrow will actually last? I would imagine that a doe and a set of twins could mow it down in a few evenings.lol

ok guys the only foolproof way to know is if you see the buck when he made the track...
just because its big doesnt always mean its a buck...theres a few big doe out there that may have a big track too...which i have perasonally seen the big doe just walked by me...one of the biggest tracks i ever seen...
if i see a smaller or big track and some fawn tracks too...good chance its a doe with fawns...same if you see a very big track by itself you can assume its a buck an prolly most cases it is...
i know they say there is a difference in the track between a buck and a doe and in most cases this might be true...but not always...as i said earlier i have only found one way to be sure and thats if you actually see the deer make the track...thats the only 100% way to tell...country road looks like he got up on wrong side of bed(avitar)...:D
