i think wells will be fine.if there were any real seriousness to his injury he wouldn't have returned to the sidelines walking.
they looked pretty good today.alot was made about not punching the ball into the endzone and settling for field goals but there were alot of 2nd stringers playing too.

It was good to see the kicking game was on! Two field goals over 50 yards is pretty sweet to see. Hopefully Beanie is only out one week.

Wow...how about this score...Utah 25, Michigan 23 :yikes:

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Heisman Trophy contender Chris "Beanie" Wells injured his right foot and the Ohio State tailback was carted off the field during the third quarter of the second-ranked Buckeyes' game against Youngstown State on Saturday.

http://msn.foxsports.com/id/8507330_36_3.jpg

X-rays were negative, but Wells status remained unknown as he visited doctors an hour after the second-ranked Buckeyes' 43-0 victory.

"I may have rolled it or planted wrong a play or two before," Wells said through Ohio State spokeswoman Shelly Poe. "Something just didn't feel right. Then I think I felt a pop. But the X-rays are OK, so we'll see how it feels in a day or two."

Coach Jim Tressel declined to speculate on the severity of the injury or on Wells' availability for Ohio State's games next week against Ohio and in two weeks against No. 3 Southern California.

He did admit to getting a sick feeling in his stomach when Wells went down.

"You feel for anyone who goes down, especially when it looks like a leg injury," Tressel said. "First you think 'Oh, is it a knee?' Then, 'Is it an ankle?' From what I gather other than getting medical (people) into it, it's a foot thing. X-rays are negative. But absolutely your heart jumps."

On the play, Wells fell to the ground before he was even hit, fumbling the ball away on a first and goal at the Youngstown State 2. He writhed on the ground in pain while he was attended by several doctors and trainers, with his teammates standing around him watching. Tressel also ran onto the field.

"As I handed the ball back, he didn't even grab the ball," quarterback Todd Boeckman said. "I didn't know what to expect, didn't know what he did. He went down and he was in some serious pain."

Wells was helped off the field and then put on a motorized cart and taken to the locker room.

Wells returned to the field in the fourth quarter wearing a boot on his right ankle. An Associated Press reporter asked him if he was OK and he nodded his head.

He watched the end of the game while sitting on the bench with teammates and did not appear to be in pain.

Immediately after the game, Wells walked into the locker room from the bench area. He was almost dragging his right leg.

The junior had 111 yards on 13 carries, including a 43-yard touchdown burst as the Buckeyes rolled to a 26-0 lead at the time of his injury.

Boeckman said Ohio State's players were stunned as they watched Wells go down.

"When you see one of the best backs in the country laying there in pain, it's definitely something that you don't want to see," he said. "Beanie's a tough guy. I know we're all pulling for him. He's gone to the doctors and he'll do whatever he can to help this team out."

Heard on the radio on way home it's a torn ligament in Beanie's toe? Not sure I guess. What a tale of 2 half's at the Big House. We are definately in trouble with our offense. Our RB's had no lanes and QB's were pressured alot. Our Defense was dominant in the 2nd half, and Threet played a little better than Sheridan. I just hope we progress throughout the season.

Oh.......The defense allowed -11 yards rushing for the day.....:bouncy:

The Penguins, who averaged 27.4 points during a 7-4 season in 2007, rushed 21 times for minus-11 yards. Youngstown State has never scored a touchdown in four games against teams from Bowl Championship Series conferences.

I thought the other 2 rb's looked good..didn't see much pressure... -11 looks good.

I was there and man you could have heard a pin drop when Beanie went down. Seeing him there from a short distance I think it may be more serious than many would hope - he grimaced with each step and appeared to be toughing it out just to walk:mad:

The young guys look good - Tyler Moeller popped a few guys good; speaking of which it looks like Dane giot his ribbs bruised - he really got popped!

Michigan - that's about what I expected; other than I really thought the defense would have played a bit better; especially the line. I think it is going to be a real tough stretch of 5-6 games for UM this year - no gimies in there.

Yes, I saw that hit on Dane...he was hurting pretty good.

We hope for the best for Beanie!!!!

Hines looked good as well.......

plain and simple....dane go blasted!!!
his feet were going one direction and his helmet the other.
i hope wells heals up this week.i don't think he has a season ending injury but if he's out for a few weeks his heisman hopes will probably be gone.just have to wait and see.i think they'll have a tough time keeping him off the field though!

If it's a torn toe ligament, that could be very bad. I think that is what plagued Antonio Gates and Leonard Little of the NFL last year. Also, if that is what it is then I think he certainly won't be available for USC. I have heard a few media pundits say if he can't go then we are doomed. I totally disagree with that. We have tremendous depth at running back.

turf toe???a osu linebacker set out all year last year with that...:D

He could play with turf toe after a week or so, albeit less effectively, but still be good. He said he heard a pop. If he tore a ligament around his big toe, then it might as well be a knee. Your big toe is responsible for all your balance. No way you can play with that at RB. For his sake, I honestly hope he heals up within a week or so. I want to see OSU/USC at full strength. I wouldn't mind him reaggrivating that injury slightly before the UM game though:D

coonskinner...go back and chase them coons in the woods:cheeky-smiley-022:  ..ANYTIME you hold "any" team to negative yards...your doing good.....and remember Appalachian State...they were supposed to do nothing and whupped on UM...Bowling Green had an upset this week too....any day..anything can happen.

It just so happened OSU.....Played pretty good ball!!!

CG......Wells would definietly help in the USC game.....but you know......I would like to see who would "rise" to the task if he couldn't.

Sometimes you have "obstacles" in the road to your destination...sometimes how you deal with them and they play a part in your success....I would love to have Beenie...but if we can't, maybe a new star will be born??? or maybe a "Team" will take it to the next level.....if they don't have Beenie, and they win.......look out.

beanies injury would hurt osu but their season certainly doesn't ride on his shoulders.1 player doesn't dictate that.
red,the osu cheerleaders could gain yardage against what i witnessed in ann arbor on saturday.

Agreed. Those are some big girls you got. 1st half was a disaster when we played zone with a 4-3 front. When we went to a more man coverage with a 3-4 front and blitzing LB in 2nd half we were very dominant. About 35 total yards and 3 points and 2 turnovers.
