I hope family friend Brian Hoyer does well this year at QB and his Michigan State team plays well as a whole, they could have a decent year if this plays out!!!

Sooooooo, what other predictions are out there????

Doug Lesmerises' five predictions about Big Ten football
by Doug Lesmerises Monday August 25, 2008, 9:12 PM

1. Michigan State will open the year with a tough win at Cal, then beat Notre Dame and roll through an otherwise soft early schedule to enter a home game with Ohio State undefeated at 7-0 on Oct. 18. A loss by the Spartans to the Buckeyes and in their rivalry game to Michigan the following week will spark talk of yet another MSU late-season collapse, but a program-defining win over Wisconsin will turn them around and head the Spartans toward a shocking 10-win regular season.

2. Penn State will lose at home to Oregon State, then open the Big Ten season with a loss at home to Illinois that will begin a three-game losing streak and a free fall. The effects of a tumultuous off-season off the field will affect the locker room, and Joe Paterno will lose his team and miss a bowl in what turns out to be his final season.

3. Michigan's inconsistency will result in a perfectly even 6-6 and 4-4 season that will leave Wolverines fans at least happy to make a bowl. Coach Rich Rodriguez, in his first season, will succeed enough with his spread offense to fire up the fan base, erase his embarrassing departure from West Virginia, lay the groundwork for next year -- and scare the pants off undefeated Ohio State in the final game of the regular season.

4. The Fighting Illini won't take a major step back in quality of play, but Illinois will drop some close games while falling from a 9-3 regular season a year ago to 7-5. When you lose a running back as talented as Rashard Mendenhall, your margin for error shrinks.

5. The hot seat for Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz will fire up after the Hawkeyes fall to 3-6, but after rallying for a three- game winning streak to end the year and reach a bowl, he'll stick around in Iowa City.

238
Ohio State’s game with Youngstown State will be the Buckeyes’ 238th against in-state competition. The Buckeyes are 174-48-15 against schools from the state of Ohio.

1921
The last time Ohio State lost to an in-state foe was 1921, a 7-6 loss to Oberlin.

106
Ohio State has won 106 of its previous 118 previous home openers, including its last 29 in a row.

1978
Ohio State has not lost a season-opening game at home since 1978, a dismal 19-0 loss to Penn State during which hotshot true freshman quarterback Art Schlichter threw five interceptions.

14
Fourteen different Ohio teams have beaten Ohio State: Akron (once), Case (10 times), Cincinnati (twice), the Columbus Barracks (once), Denison (once), Kenyon (six times), Marietta (twice), Oberlin (nine times), Ohio Medical College (twice), Ohio Wesleyan (twice), Otterbein (twice), Western Reserve (six times), Wittenberg (three times) and Wooster (twice).

30
Thirty different current Buckeyes have started at least one game, led by linebacker James Laurinaitis (30).

8
Saturday will be Ohio State’s eighth August game. The Buckeyes are 5-2 in August, including wins over Fresno State (1994), Boston College (1995), Wyoming (1997), Texas Tech (2002) and Washington (2003). In 1986, Ohio State lost to Alabama and Miami (Fla.) downed the Buckeyes in 1999. Youngstown State is 7-0 all-time in August.

798
Ohio State opens the 2008 season with 798 all-time wins, fifth-most in Division I-A. That total is eight more than No. 6 Penn State and 19 behind No. 4 Nebraska.

17
Ohio State has 17 of 22 players listed as starters in the opening-day offense and defense depth chart who are in their fourth or fifth years as part of the Buckeye football program.

11
The initial Ohio State depth chart lists 12 starters on offense, including co-starters Rory Nicol and Jake Ballard at tight end. Nicol is the only one of that dozen not a native Ohioan. Nicol is from Beaver, Pa. Five defensive starters are Ohioans.

Five predictions about OSU's seniors.....Hmmmmmmmmmmm:biggrin:

1. Middle linebacker James Laurinaitis will make 150 tackles, 29 more than last year, giving him OSU's highest single-season tackle total since Chris Spielman had 156 in 1987.

2. Malcolm Jenkins won't win the Thorpe Award as the nation's best defensive back, in part because he'll have fewer than the four interceptions he had last season. But it'll be because teams won't throw at him.

3. Left tackle Alex Boone will play himself into a first-round NFL draft pick and a first-team All-American.

4. With so many other options on offense, receiver Brian Robiskie's stats will decrease from his 935 receiving yards from a year ago.

5. Led by the seniors, with several juniors thrown in, the Buckeyes will have 11 players drafted, their second largest draft contribution in the last 30 years, trailing only the 14 drafted in 2004.

GOOOOOOOO BUCKEYES!!!

You all are slow in the predictions!!!!:D

1. Oklahoma quarterback Sam Bradford will assert himself as the best quarterback in a Big 12 conference packed with QB stars and lead the Sooners to the conference crown and into the national title game. As a freshman, Bradford led the nation in passer rating, and now as a sophomore he's been picked as a captain by his teammates. But he won't win the Heisman -- two straight sophomore quarterbacks is too much to ask.

2. While Georgia, Florida and LSU are ranked higher in the preseason, Auburn will emerge as the SEC's best national title hope. More than any other league, the SEC is about schedule, and the Tigers get LSU, Tennessee and Georgia at home and don't play Florida. With conference road games at Mississippi State, Vanderbilt, Mississippi and Alabama, Auburn's toughest road test actually will be a nonconference game at West Virginia. And ...

3. West Virginia will show that Rich Rodriguez was worth at least two wins. After an 11-2 season, the Mountaineers will lose at least four games -- at Colorado, against Auburn and season-ending conference games to Pitt and South Florida.

4. BYU at Utah on Nov. 22 in the regular-season finale for both teams will evolve into one of the games of the year. Both teams could be undefeated, with Utah opening with a win over Michigan, and that game will be for a BCS bowl. It'll be a nice back end of a doubleheader after OSU-Michigan.

5. Youngstown will celebrate like Kelly Pavlik just beat up Superman. Native son Bob Stoops will lead Oklahoma into the national title game against adopted hero Jim Tressel and Ohio State. The teams that combined to lose four of the last five national title game finally will produce a winner. And it will be ... Oklahoma.......maybe...OSU........Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm m
