I have always washed my clothes in the past with Autum Scent clothes wash and stored them in a bag with Earth scent wafers. I did this process the same way this year with my Scent Lok only I stored them in a Scent Lok bag. I don't even where my clothes in my truck before or after hunting. I remove them from storage in the field and change once I am in the field and I remove my gear and clothes and store them once I come out of the woods before I get in the truck to drive home. How are you guys taking care of scent elimination?

I bought 375$ worth of scent lok about 3 weeks ago.... then I returned it all the other night and got my money back... I just don't buy into it... you would have to be in a fully contained suit to stop human odor, it just can't happen with scent lok
I got the scent smoker this year, and I take showers in scent free soap... I continue to kill deer year after year...

Are you trying to get me going, buddy? :bouncy:
I do wash my camo in Sport Wash every now and then, mainly after kills or dragging a buddy's deer out. In other words, if I have done something to really put a lot of sweat and other odors on my camo, I'll wash it, dry it, then smoke it again.

I take a shower w/ scent free soap if I can. Then I keep all my clothes and boots in a Rubbermaid container, change when I'm out of the truck, then spray down w/ a homemade scent killer. Don't know if the scent killer works but I use it anyway. I've worn Scent Lok before but I think it is pretty much worthless. Play the wind more than anything.

I totally agree with you hiller except i believe scent lok helps out a little bit if you take care of your stuff the right way. but your right its definatley not 100% prob not even 50% but i still want to believe it helps just a little bit.

I agree. Indians never had scent lok and if you play the wind, most of the time it will be enough. I never used any kind of scent elimination 20 years ago when I started Bowhunting, I just put leaves, pine cones and dirt in a garbage bag with my gear and used the wind to my advantage. I try a new product every year and it's mainly to have that extra edge if the wind swirls or changes direction. In the end the majority of all this new stuff is overkill but it's the world we live in I guess.. Does anyone still use uv killer spray? That was a big deal 10 years or so ago and I don't hear much about it. The uv spectrum is a big deal when hunting but as long as you don't use a detergent with a uv brightner it should be ok. I don't think any of the new clothes wash products on the market contain a uv brightner but it would be easy enough to check. Just purchase a black light and you can tell real quick.

I have a ton of scent lok - never noticed a difference in the amount of windage. I just wash it all with the other crap now since I pretty much have given up on it. The thing that I hate now is that it is almost impossible to buy nice duds today without that crap in it - so everything has a markup because of it.
If you are listening out there - start making good camo without Carbon!

I had to laugh when I saw this. I am colorblind also, and I use that excuse for everything. Just funny to see someone else use it. :D

I do my best to take a shower and use scentless soap. and then I keep all my hunting clothes in a rubbermaid container with a couple of the dryer sheets that smell like dirt and leaves.

I think it should. Most hunting soaps and laundry washes should say "No UV brighteners" on it somewhere. Sport Wash is what I have always used, and I know it is UV brightener-free.

Nawwww... Meeeee Never..... What would make you think I do that... My question was because I have noticed many people that use the Smoker still follow a scent elimination regiment..
They still wash their clothes in a scent elimination detergent
They Still store their clothes in a scent free container
They Still take a Scent free Shower.
The only difference I have noticed so far is in the field is the use of a smoker while others use a Spray scent killer.
I just thought this smoker was supposed to take care of all that.. Just kinda silly to me to continue doing the many things that I already do (and works) plus add the extra time of lighting and smoking. Not trying to get you going, just a tad confusing...
I want to hear from the guy that has been at deer camp for 4 days with no running water, hasn't taken a shower and has hunted hard all but 2 hours of daylight for the past 4 days.... That's where I see the Smoker would earn it's salt. Because by day 5 I'm having to play the wind no matter how much spray I use... Probably all the beer and shine don't help..

I wash my camos only a few times during the season. I smoke up my body and camos before I go to the woods.
Last year I sold food to restaurants for a living, so I would come home smelling like fried egg rolls, fish, steak, whatever. I'd take my work clothes off, smoke myself and camo, gear, equipment, etc. and head to the woods. No shower, no freshly laundered camos. It works.
If someone was at deer camp for 4 days hunting all day, drinking beer, etc., most likely they are sitting around a campfire at night. Naturally the smoke is on them. Jack, you should stop questioning and just use smoke...it's almost free to try. When you find it works, buy the Scent Smoker. :mischeif:

I am not sold on the scent lok suits either...I have an early season scent lok suit and I think they look good but weather your scent is dramatically reduced I have no idea. I had deer walk right past me on the ground but I have other times they got me.

Call me a hardhead,,, It'll probably get the best of me this year and I'll try it... But I'm gonna give this smoker thing a run for it's money.. I even have an old bee smoker in the garage... I'll try it out.. Maybe next weekend I won't take a shower in the morning , haven't washed / worn my hunting clothes in a month and smoke up..... Go to my doe killing spot and sit for a good morning camera hunt. If it works I'll still buy one. I was always skeptical of this smoker, But i'll tell you straight out scent lok is a scam... 6 years in the military and messing with activated charcoal in nuclear, biological and chem suits. I can tell you scentlok is only good for a few hunts at most, and that's if it's even still good when you but it off the shelf.
