Will be in OH next week to visit family. Can dogs be run on wild birds this time of year? Looking to let him stretch his legs a couple mornings so he isn't so wound-up at the folks house!

Thanks.

I just read it from ODOW.
"A nonresident may not train, work, or exercise a dog in ohio at anytime ohio residentsare not permited to train, work exercise dogs in nonresidents state.
You can only run in Dog Training area at this time. Wildlife areas are closed 6/1-8/31.

Aimrite,

Here in MI res and nonres can run on birds since the 15th. Concerning training areas, I think there is a bird dog area in Berlin in NE OH. Guess I should call a CO and see about heading out there.
Thanks.

Stay on the dog training areas and you should be ok. You can't run on any public hunting land, if your seen you'll get a ticket plus another one for being non res. Its from about march or april until aug that you have to stay off of public hunting grounds and have to stay on dog training areas.

Where will you be visiting? Maybe I can help. I have some access to private land where you can run his/her legs off.
