Hydroseeding!!!

Ive never heard of this before. On this weeks episode of Get in the Game they talk about hydroseeding. Basically they take some type of truck used to spray a mix of water, mulch, seed and fertilizer mix it all together and spray the greenish blue concoction where you want a food plot. They said it is used along highways quite a bit but I knew nothing of this. They say that it is better if you prepare a spot for the concoction such as clearing and disking, but it is not necessary as this stuff will grow on rocks and such. Awesome idea for places to steep or where erosion may be a factor with ground disruption.

I've seen this process done before along highways and yards alike. It comes up quick too. If you've ever used Patchmaster on your lawn to repair spots then you have a good idea of what it is and how it works.

So that's what that stuff is along highways. I always wondered what that stuff was. Whatever the state puts in it grows fast, that's for sure!

we used a hydroseeder a lot when i worked for the turnpike commission as a seasonal. they are pretty awesome in my opinion. much easier and faster to plant grass seed that way, and much more effective. its interesting that theyre using them for deer plots now... makes sense, it just never crossed my mind before. one year we sprayed a guy with it as he was walkin across the lot... funny as hell. he was pissed of course but it was the end of the day anyway. he looked like the creature from the black lagoon after we got him LOL.
