I don't bother spraying mine, I just mow them a few times over the spring and summer. Mow them before the weeds go to seed and you can keep them under control. I try to mow when there is rain in the forcast so it dosen't stress the clover. Mow the clover to about 4-6" high. Mowing alos keeps the clover more tender, if it gets too high it get woody.

A herbicide called poast will not kill clover, chicory, or brassicas. DLC was right on to make sure you keep it mowed, don't let anything seed out, not even the clover.

I also try to mow to control my weeds. Poast and arrest is VERY expensive, so I'll mow before buying those products. I have a few broadleaf weeds in mine right now. I am going down this weekend to mow.

Isn't poast only for grasses, though? If it is a grass problem, like Johnson grass or something similar, poast, Arrest, or DuPont Assure II should do the trick. If it is broadleaf weeds causing the problem, those herbicides won't do much. We had issues controlling weeds in our chicory, too. It is tricky because some herbicides will kill certain broadleaf weeds in chicory and not harm the chicory, but it won't take care of all broadleaf problems. The ones we fight mostly are mustard in the early spring and milkweed. We have some grass popping up now, but it is too soft to get in there and spray right now. For the broadleaf weeds, we just went with a wick applicator that applies herbicide to the taller broadleaf weeds only and doesn't kill the chicory. We filled the wick with KillzAll and it nuked the mustard. We have Assure II to spray for the grass when ever the rain slacks off and stuff starts to firm up.

Poast is for grasses so I don't know if it will affect rag weed. Does anyone know what 24d would do to clover and chicory? A farmer I know thought that it would kill the chicory, but not the clover. I might spray some in my yard because I know it doesn't affect grass and Ive got plenty of clover in my yard.
