In case you haven't seen the new Lindy Shake-E-blade worm harness... here is a link to the promo video.

I think it looks pretty awesome in action. I went ahead and tied a few of my own and tried them out a couple weeks ago with good results behind bottom bouncers. My newest "copy-cat" was to incorporate the chatterbait-style blade into a casting harness... ie the "Shake-E-Weapon" lol.

The only thing I did different was that I used a snap swivel to attach blade to leader instead of a duo-lock snap because I couldnt find duolocks anywhere. Not sure if it affects the action negatively or not but we'll see. I hope to try these out this weekend.

Those look great! They should crank up the bite.
You can get Duo snaps at janns netcraft in maumee.

Those are good looking lures. A marriage of the spoon and a crawler harness! Should be deadly for steelhead as well. The double snap would improve the action IMO. Wonder how they would do behind planer boards and snap weights?

Thanks for posting and the pics jb!

the regular harnesses i tied had incredible action when pulled through the water... didnt try it yet but ill bet they will be dynamite when trolled.

Janns netcraft is where i order some of my supplies from. When i ordered the shaker blades for these harnesses i was being a tightwad and thought i could find duolocks anywhere for half the price... kicking myself now for that. i definately agree that the duolocks would help the action. with the snap swivels on them they vibrate and spin around at the same time. i think it would be better without the spinning... could probably transfer more undulation to the worm.

my dad is taking some of the relatives out friday morning, so hopefully he locks onto some fish and has some prime spots lined up for saturday morning. does anyone know if theyve been getting the 'eyes good on weapons yet or are the bottom bouncers and trolling gear still getting them the best?

This one is getting me thinking. Seems like this is a combination of the chatter baits and the crawler harness. There is also a flatfish looking doo-dad that goes in line above a harness and gives it a swimming action- but theres no flash to it- and the pressure/resistance made by a blade spinning behind it kills the action.

I think a guy could get by with a chatter bait rigged with a stinger and do fairly the same thing as well.

hey did some snoopin- these look familiar?

yea those are what i ordered... the ones without the bubble holes in them. i just ordered some various colors of reflective tape to give the blades some color to match the beads. the shaker blades are totally flat when you get them so i put a bit of a bend in them to match the chatter baits and lindy's shake-E-blade harnesses.

I stole a blade off a chatterbait and tied one up. Swung by the local lake and man do they look nice.

Quick Question- are they supposed to swim or spin or both? At higher retrieve they spun and at slower they swum. I tried some Mojo sinkers at various points and the best place to keep it swimming is right behind the blade, of course the heavier I went the more speed it took to get it to spin. But then again- Im using a ball bearing swivel with a duolock.

What are yours doin?

I also tried a chatter bait minus the skirt with a head/stinger hooked zoom 6 inch trick worm- Looked great as well. I will definitely be draggin some of these first chance I get.

with the snap swivels on the blade mine spin around as well. it still looks pretty good but i am definately going to order duolock snaps and try them out. i think the swimming action will look better. for my drifting/trolling harnesses i have about 30-36 inches of leader that attaches to bottom bouncer or a jet diver... the casting harnesses however only have about a 15 inch leader. for these i have a loop that slides through an egg sinker and gets attached to a snap swivel leading to my rod. there is a bead in the loop that keeps the egg sinker at the loop, so i never have any weight that is any closer than 15 inches to the bait itself. cool idea with the swim baits by the way... i bet that would be deadly on all kinds of fish. these new shaker-style blades are pretty neat. its exciting when someone comes up with new or different baits because its something the fish arent used to seeing... which usually leads to more fish in the boat.

A BIG +1 on the shakee.
We used some of them yesterday trolling off of Lorain and had good results. There was 3 of us fishing and got our limit using them and spoons.
jbrown - Do you think the ones with a single hook work better than the ones with double hook. The ones we trolled with had doubles. I bought some at a local store and they had doubles and would like to try some when we go back in several weeks for a 3day drift trip.

walleyefan -

i still havent got a chance to use the single hook version yet... ill be out this friday though if the weathers good. basically i only use two hooks on the drifting/trolling harnesses. the single hooks version is strictly a casting harness. the casting harnesses will produce now... but they really shine during the mayfly hatch. i only use about an inch of worm on my rig, threaded onto the hook so its in line with the hook shank. kind of a "match the hatch" thing. i dont really think either type is better than the other... they both produce fish pretty regularly.

nice job on the 'eyes by the way.

well unfortunately my so-called Shake-E-Weapons didnt produce like i was hoping they would. tried them out this morning and was actually pretty disappointed. even after attaching duolock snaps instead of snap swivels they still just spin around like a regular blade does. i think they produce more vibration than a regular blade though. maybe on another day they could produce but definately not today. probably not worth the extra effort and expense that goes into making them versus the standard colorado bladed harnesses. just thought i would let you guys know in case anyone wanted to make some too. i dont believe they are the secret weapon that i was hoping for LOL.

on a lighter note... we did catch 9 walleyes (2 guys fishing) this morning on regular weapons, gold, on 10 counts. 7 of the fish came on one drift, which happened to be our last drift because the storms blew us off the lake. kinda sucked having to stop 3 short of our limit but oh well... 9 is definately better than a goose egg. fished just west of A Can.
