Yes it will be a fun shoot. How difficult is the course, does anyone know???

rjo

BOW5
07-10-2003, 04:53 PM
the difficulty of the course depends on the weather and who sets it. If not too muddy the course will probably go through the big woods and possibly the lower woods. The person who sets the course can be bribed!!!!

Caribou Dreamer2
07-11-2003, 02:13 AM
I will agree with who sets the course at logan county,Some months not to bad then other months pretty difficult. I have shot alot of course thru the years and i feel that logan county is one of the hardest courses to shoot. They have all different types of terrain just depends on were they decide to set up that month, you will see open fields to big woods to under brush, up hill and down hill shots.Word of advise with all this rain latley if it doe not dry up bring you boots.Hope to see everybody there.

Hoytme and I are coming down to the shoot this weekend, so be nice to us. ;) We are shooting hunter class ... I think. Maybe we can finally get the chance to meet you . How ya been Ray? Yea, I thought I would take a break for awhile. I heard somebody saying that you guys were coming down. I'm looking forward to meeting you guys and i'll try and take it easy on you when I set targets.:D Really, I will try! I might take it easy this month so guys can get some confidence for hunting season. I shoot Hunter Class as well so I can't make the course to difficult.
I'll be there somewhere, I am going to try and shoot really early so I can help out in the clubhouse.

As far as directions go, just take 33 West from Dublin to Bellefontaine. (approx. 42 miles - estimated time 50 - 55 min.)
You will take U.S. 68 North approx. 1 mile and turn right into the Logan County Fish & Game. Drive to the back and take the gravel lane to the right. If you want I can PM you my cell phone # in case you need to call. Just let me know.

See you this weekend!

I haven't touched my bow for two months so I am looking forward to this weekend. The season isn't that far off but i will be ready you can be sure of that. I will keep an eye out for you this weekend.

rjolenic
07-15-2003, 07:01 PM
Sounds good Spitfire. I can tell you will be ready for the season based on your nice 10 pointer from last season. I believe the town made you a local bowhunting celebrity if I remember correct. It was a nice bow kill, you will have more success like that if you have worked hard in the off season. See you at the shoot Sunday. Stay sharp and keep em in the KILL ZONE.

Setting a easy course hmmm otay that sounds good ,but leave those quarter shot out of the game this month sure had a lot of them last month:p I like wide open straight down the alley way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

rjolenic
07-16-2003, 07:17 AM
Straight down the alley sounds good to me. FULL BROADSIDE works just fine. Caribou, what's up with the shack???

rjo

Spitfire
07-16-2003, 07:18 AM
No quarter shots! Those are the best ones to shoot! Especially when so many people need the practice for hunting real deer. I won't guarantee anything but I will try not to set as many this time around. :D ;) :)

Spitfire
07-16-2003, 07:19 AM
That's his home away from home! LOL!!!!!!!:D

rjolenic
07-16-2003, 07:23 AM
Does it have central air?? :p

As for the quartering shot, I agree that it's ideal while bow hunting. But I would still rather have a full broadside shot ... even while in the woods.;)

rjo

Spitfire
07-16-2003, 07:30 AM
Thanks for the compliment rjolenic. He just happened to come by before a doe did. My intentions were to shoot a doe that morning but things didn't work out that way. I am just thankful CD was there to help me drag that beast to the field edge. I don't know about celebrity but that was all caused by my dad. He knows the outdoor writer and thought it was a good idea. Bonehead!
I don't work as hard as some but I put in more scouting time than I used to and it increases every year.
See ya on Sunday. The "Kill Zone" is the only place to be!!

Spitfire
07-16-2003, 07:33 AM
Heck ya, it has central air, polluted air, stagnant air, etc...... LOL!!!
Any shot that exposes the entire heart lung area is a good one. I prefer the quartering away but won't pass on the broadside.

rjolenic
07-16-2003, 07:45 AM
It helps to know people in high places. It's also good for we hunters to get a little positive recongnition from time to time. It's also nice to have hunting buddies that will be there for you when you need them. Not only while hunting, but to help through the off season, hanging treestands, scouting, dragging deer, butchering deer and just being a good pal. ;)

See you all Sunday at the shoot.

rjo

Spitfire
07-16-2003, 08:14 AM
I don't know anyone in high places, that would be my dad. He seems to know all the right people, or maybe it's all the wrong people. I agree that hunters need recognition, I just didn't enjoy it being me. I don't know how some of these guys do it, all the hype would drive me crazy.
It is nice when you get the help but it isn't always there. I started butchering my own deer last year and had a blast doing it. Maybe sometime this year we can hook up and I can see how you guys go about it.

rjolenic
07-16-2003, 08:20 AM
Spitfire:

Next deer you bag, we can "meat" you half way and butcher it up together either here in Toledo, or down your way. Hoytme2 and I are addicted to processing deer for some reason. We put it right up there with the hunt itself.

I guess it just puts the icing on the cake after a successful hunt, track, field dress and then the final procuct in your freezer and into our families bellies .... WITH OUR OWN BARE HANDS .... that's what it's all about.

Spitfire
07-16-2003, 08:36 AM
"Meat" you half way! Very nice, I like it! I know what you mean after butchering that doe of mine last year it just adds to the hunt. I had a blast doing it. Of course my father-in-law had to show me how to do it cause I had never done it before.
Well, if the trend continues it will be the first week of the season. For the last three years I have taken my first deer within the first 4 days. I'll just plan on coming up there if that works out better for you guys. Maybe I can even get CD to come along. I bet if I bribed him w/ a Silver Bullet he would go.

rjolenic
07-16-2003, 08:42 AM
No problem! We will be ready for you guys on a moments notice for the butchering. You guys are welcome to crash here because it is a fairly lenghty process. Not to mention it usually involves a lot of music and quite a bit of silver bullet intake. :D ;) Heck last season we did 6 deer in one week .. now that was exauhsting.

bring it on!

rjo

Spitfire
07-16-2003, 08:47 AM
My deer doesn't require very many special cuts so that means more time for liquid intake. I think we did that deer of mine in a litlle over an hour last year. It wasn't very big though so that might of had something to do w/ it.

rjolenic
07-16-2003, 08:51 AM
Depending on how picky Hoytme is being we can do a good sized doe in about 2 hours. We like to trim all of the sinew from the meat so that the grinder doesn't get jammed. Then we wash it so that there is absolutely no hair in the ground when we are done. I also trim every little last ounce of fat and sinew fron the backstraps, you've never had better backstrap. Then we bag it up in those "special" game bags and make it look like a proessional job. We take extra pride in our processing.

rjo
:)

Hoytme2
07-16-2003, 08:59 AM
"Thats Right Meat Processing"..... We'll meat you half way.

Spitfire
07-16-2003, 09:01 AM
I did all that also ( the trimming) but it wasn't until the next day. Dang, you even have the "special" bags, you guys are serious. Maybe you should start your own business.

Caribou Dreamer2
07-16-2003, 11:16 AM
If you want me to help in the butching dept it will be alot on liquid intake.I have proccessed alot of deer and it not a fun job if you ask me,I like the idea i dropping it off and picking it up in white packages:D

Caribou Dreamer2
07-16-2003, 11:18 AM
As for the shack its my new hunting shack this year i will put it in a trailer and off to camp i go,I got it for 20 bucks and it was already equiped with a john.A good air flow for thosae hot nights and good heat for those cold nights

Spitfire
07-16-2003, 11:24 AM
hovering over a pile of crap isn't a very good heat source! LOL!!!

Spitfire
07-16-2003, 11:26 AM
Come on CD, I'll buy your favorite flavor. I like the idea of saving a crap ton of money by not taking it to a butcher. If your willing to give someone money to butcher your deer CD I am more than willing to do it for you. I can even make it look professional like ithoyt's & hoytme.

Caribou Dreamer2
07-16-2003, 11:27 AM
It is when it mixed with hot chile and hot wings with a few cajun crawdads,Produces alot of heat.
Don't forget we leave the candle on for you.

Caribou Dreamer2
07-16-2003, 11:29 AM
Well i guess i will have to find a new butcher or go back to doing it myself, since charley past away:mad .

If toledo was not so far away i would take it up to the toldeo boys to butcher, amybe i could get them to met me half way

Spitfire
07-16-2003, 11:30 AM
I'm going to take the candle and use that as my heat source. You guys can hover over crap! I bet you will be the first one out wanting your candle back.

Spitfire
07-16-2003, 11:33 AM
Yea, "meat" them half way at a road side rest and butcher a deer. Can you imagine the looks we would get. Wonder how long it would take for the state boys to show up.

I want the LX bad. I shoot it about 2 months ago and didn't want to put it down. I will have it soon. Got a good deal on the mossberg 835 been wanting one to try goose hunting and it also gives me a good excuse to buy a new bow so the new wife won't get mad. LOL. The gun comes in complete realtree. Also got a simmons scope for turkey hunting. And 4 choke tubes.

Q2Xl:

I will have a bag of the special jerky for you and caribou this weekend. Can't wait to shoot and eat all of that jerky on the course. See you there.

Caribou:

We will "MEAT" you half way and then we will process your deer back here. Or go ahead and make a day of it so that we can cut cut cut and pass the time with your favorite flavor. It will be fun!

Spitfire:

We will me anyone half way to get the deer and then we will bring it back here to process , then get it back to you within the week. No charge for processing. Just a donation of our favorite flavor. ;)

Byrd:

I would recommend a HOYT, it's a very good bow and won't break the bank in the process like some other bows out there. I guess it depends on what you will truely use it for. If it is a hunting bow, just about any of the bows out there that are a single cam and can fling arrows will work.. It's up to you to hone it in to your liking ... as you know.

Hoyts and Golden eagle boys won the Trophy. At first it was a close score then all of a sudden they blew us away after each and every jerky break they just got better and better. One of the Hoyt boys really blew us away at a target we ALL ran for our lifes the air turned Green , yes thats right he camoed the air we breathed then laughted. i think dear hunter hits trees to check the durability of his arrows.

Spitfire
07-22-2003, 11:27 AM
How many arrows does it take to check for durability? We should make it a rule that every time a tree is hit that person has to buy everyone else a soda or hot dog. That would be fun!

ray

Spitfire
07-22-2003, 11:57 AM
Ok then, its a "weiner"! Too funny!! We could even up the anti a-little. If it's one tree, that person buys everyone else a soda or hot dog. If it goes to two, three, and more trees the stakes get higher. It might even grow to a full blown supper, paid for by the "lumber jack"!

So is that how he beat us. Was there a lazer beam too dang with all of that stuff he must be Hoyt 007

Hoytme2
07-23-2003, 08:39 PM
:)
not the Hoyt 007 trick. I just think it was the "special" jerky mix he used. He put the blurred vision powder in your jerky evidently......... "Where's the Target!" That is the new quote for the month! I used to have that same problem with my old peep but now I have one with a hole the size of a basketball...... it doubles as a basketball rim.

rjolenic
07-23-2003, 09:27 PM
Yep, that's me Mr. 007 Hoyt. I quietly go about my business and consistanly shoot the kill zone and then ... WHAM ! Before you know it, the trophy is going back to Toledo. He he he Hoo HA !

Spitfire
07-24-2003, 08:12 AM
Freestyle, sounds like that could be a real hum-dinger of a shoot. I just might have to try and get this day off a little harder. That bionic bear sounds pretty interesting. I'll just be getting back from Montana but I might be able to do this.

rjolenic
07-24-2003, 08:57 AM
ahhh yes, the freestyle move. I'll just shoot fingers that day and shoot from the hunter stakes. Or maybe I can get the Merlin set up before then and then it wouldn't really matter where we shoot from.

rjo

Caribou Dreamer2
07-24-2003, 10:53 AM
Yep Freestle they shoot everybody in the same class up there so some have a advantage over others if you look at it that way but it sure makes it interesting though,And that bionic bear that was the first time i shot at a steel target and i'm one kill one arrow.Hope you all can make it on the 24th that would be a blast.

Spitfire
07-24-2003, 11:02 AM
I'm going to try and make it. I want to try this Bionic bear! It has been a long time since I have tried to shoot through a piece of steel.

I will be getting back from vacation then and as long as they have that day covered at work I will be able to make it. If they don't i'll see if I can trade for that day off.

How big is the hole to shoot through on that Bionic bear and how many yards away is it, sounds like it will be a fun target to shoot at.

Q2XL
07-25-2003, 02:25 AM
the size of a ten ring around and cant tell you the yardage in case it sat up the same this month

Caribou Dreamer2
07-25-2003, 02:44 AM
I will give you a hint it was farther than thirty yards and less than 40 yards pretty good shot though:D

Spitfire
07-25-2003, 07:47 AM
UH huh, sure it was! I would almost bet that it won't be the same this month. Even if it is, that is a pretty small hole when you have steel all the way around and your arrow is going to be laying in front of it destroyed.

Thank You for the info Q2XL cant wait to give that bear a try.

I shot that bionic bear last month for 30 yards,But iwill have to say that just the thought of maybe a EXPLOSION could happen adds another few yards to it.

Ray i know you will shoot it again the pressure is on this time.(CRACK):D

Whoever wants to join in on the fun can do so. If the Logan co. Archers want to pick up another man, then it's fin e with me and Hoytme. We will need to pick someone up as well. I have got a good one in mind .... he he he he. rjolenic has another one up his sleeve on this one too. We may need to split into two groups for the shoot though.

You all are gettin too serious about this shootin thing. Lets just go out and have some fun and get ready for that real trophy that walks in front of our stands his season. And eat some jerky!

rjolenic
07-25-2003, 07:32 PM
Maybe we should forget the trophy and concentrate on the TROPHY that we will bag this Fall! We are all in this together, what was I thinking. It's still fun to incorporate a little competition, but is this really in the right spirit??? Maybe we should think of that. Good point HOYTME2.

Yeah, I've got enough crap going trough my head when I'm shooting let alone pride or a trophy. I dont want us to lose sight of why we are out ther shootin. Monster Bucks!!!!!! "Where's the target?"

Dear_Hunter

Good job you two on that trophy and a good job on that Big Picture.

rjolenic
07-25-2003, 11:35 PM
Maybe we can make room in the fire pit at deer camp for that trophy, or better yet, the one who improves the most from shoot to shoot will take the trophy. Now there's an incentive. It's too close to the season to be jacking around with this competition crap. Sorry guys for the earlier post with the pic.
