Well after about 4 hours of work today, I finally finished both plots on our farm. My neighbor was a HUGE help in this project. Without his equipment, we could have never got it done. The bottom plot we planted japanese millet and a wildlife mix from deer creek seed. The plot is around 1/2 acre in size and about half of it stays wet. I planted the jap millet (for turkeys) in the section that stays wet and the wildlife mix (includes white clover, red clover, alsike clover, and birdsfoot trefoil) in the other half. It is in a great location that can draw deer from other properties. Hopefully they hit it. This plot receives plenty of sunlight except for about 3' right around the edges.

The upper plot was planted on a gasline (received permission to plant a couple years back) that runs through the upper end of our property. We used a section that is about 100 yards long. The plot is around 15' wide. Sunlight in this plot is an issue, so I had to find a shade plot. I used a mix of white clover, rye grass and fescue for this plot. We tilled this plot up a week ago and the deer sign in there today was incredible. I plan on taking down some small trees in there over the summer to create more sunlight. I have a couple small maples that are choking out the sun. Ideally, I would like to get enough sunlight in there to grow some sort of brassica. Maybe next year.....

Both plots are located on each side of the property, so not only will they have drawing power from other properties, but it should keep the deer concentrated in the middle of our property (atleast that's what I hope will happen). Along with the food plots, I still plan on filling my feeding stations as well. I can't wait to get in there this fall and see what is happening. :bouncy:
