Point a gun at a cop, real or toy you should get shot... Your intentions are the same.... Your just trying to pull it off with a toy gun. It shouldn't be a cops job to tell the difference.... Pull a gun and get shot, real, toy, black, camo, or pink.

Painting guns bright colors is nothing new. Target shooters have been doing it for years. Pink guns are an attempt to attract young girls to shooting, which is great! I don't think you'll find many gang bangers painting their "9"s pink;)

play guns usually have a paint on them to show they are not real...like red on the barrel tip or orange...cops backed this idea...now pink guns are out there and they are real...a cop wont know if its real or not...the whole idea of guns being painted is to let cops know...banning pink guns has nothing to do with banning guns...nothing at all...if it saves childrens lives who playingfully points a gun at someone with a real gun from being killed...then i think we need to get rid of the real guns painted pinl...i guess you guys with cdls would justify killing a kid with a pink gun then find out it was a toy...think bout it...help save the kids...

I checked Gunbroker and found 64 pink guns. They have been around for awhile. Haven't noticed any big increase in kids getting shot because of it. Here's a few of the listings.

i dont let my kids run around with any play guns(or real) nor does anyone else i know we teach our kids gun safety and respect .not that i dont agree with not painting guns any bright color because thats how your supposed to tell a real gun from a fake one .however if its dark out the color isnt going to help an officer identify what type of weapon you have .as many if not more people have been shot holding a cell phone in thier hand its not so much whats in your hand the cops are looking at its the movement and jesters you make with that object .to many times someone has been shot because of the moves they make ,a stick can look like a knife in the dark and if someone is coming at you in the dark like they have a knife you are not going to wait till they get to you to react. i guess my point is nothing replaces parenting not painting guns and not putting red tips on guns .the play guns i had when i was a kid looked pretty real ,old silver cap guns .and none of us were shot .because we didnt go around in the dark around peoples houses or places we shouldnt have been and we listened to police officers and other adults when they said stop or come here .we didnt act like criminals and run away and point guns at them .we had respect for adults and authority figures .something that has been lacking in our children for years now .so instead of blameing pink guns for our kids being shot ,how about letting the parents step up and take some responsibillty thier kids and thier actions . it is your job as a parent to teach how to be productive in society to give them the best chance at life .not let the tv ,movies and vidieo games babysit them.

Coonie, Is this going to be another one of those threads where you ignore the obvious points and continue to play devils advocate refusing to acknowledge sound logic.
Cops don't shoot people because they have a weapon no matter the color... The person gets shot because they refuse to follow commands... Commands like "Freeze" "drop the weapon" "show me your hands" "get on the ground" Cops don't see a weapon and open up with a hail of bullets. As long as the individual doesn't pose an immediate threat to the officer and is only holding the weapon. The individual is given verbal instructions... If that individual refuses to follow instructions, make a movement towards the officer or points the weapon at the officer, he is going to get shot... It doesn't matter if it's a toy or if it's real, the instructions are the same......
Failure to obey commands gets people shot... Not the weapon or the color of a toy.....
Do me a favor coonie test it out.. Go fly down 70 at 100mph, when they OHP tries to pull you over keep going for a few miles.. When the officer orders you out of the car refuse for 30 min.. Then jump out with a toy gun that is black with a red tip.... refuse to follow commands.. Then charge the officer..... Let me know how that turns out for you.. No better yet, make sure the media is there, because you'll probably never get back with me to tell me how it went....
Now do the same thing, go 100mph, pull over immediately, notify the officer you have a real gun, and it's pink.... He will remove you from the car and secure the firearm.. Sign your ticket, he'll give you your gun back, and you'll be on your merry way..

I guess you believe cops are more trigger happy then I do.
The idea of trying to legislate the color or finish of firearms is just silly. What colors are OK? Blue I assume is OK, but are all shades of blue OK? Does the stock have to be natural wood or are synthetics and laminates OK? How about camo? Case coloring? Stainless? Nickel or Gold plate?
jhammer

If you want to get young girls into shooting, the color of the gun shouldn't matter. :gaga:
As long as they have respect for it as a firearm, and have been taught well, they'll be fine.

i dont really see no harm in this thread even if it makes us aware that there is potential danger with real pink guns that look more like a toy gun...it may make some here pass this on to their youngsters that even some guns that are pink with chrome barrels may very well indeed be the real thang...but we do know all guns real or toy should be treated as a real one...especially by kids...so i dont think this thread is completely worthless and if you are teaching your kids about gun safety it might be worth it to take them in the local gander mountain and show them these pinlk guns...it could just save a life...and women in deer camp is not completely worthless either as i am trying to learn more about this as some have xpressed interest and i want a camp where all feel comfy...thats why i started that one...i guess i am learning things from others here but some want to blast me for that too...people i have never said a bad word about...and for the caves, maybe its stupid to do it but i dont care,i'll continue it...and like others that tell their stories here i may continue that telling mine too even if it makes me look stupid,i dont care...i guess some continue to read worthless stuff...and if you dont, thats ok...now that turk season is over maybe i can get on to more of my worthless threads like the deercamp(wn)which i have kept toned down til after the turk huntin stories have been told...thats all i really care bout these days is seeing that being a success...thats more important to me than anythang when it comes to hunting...maybe xcept for safety...:D

Coonie if as you say you are only concerned about safety why don't you complain about toy guns, that as far as I'm concerned is the problem. You accused Gander of being irresponsible for offering firearms that might appeal to someone besides a bunch of grumpy old men.

Nah. coonskinner isn't a troll (although he may be a reformed troll idk). He likes to stir the pot, play devils advocate whatever speak. But I know he posts a lot of good information as well, with good intention and has helped a lot of people off this site, me included. He's just as helpful and hard working "off" the forums.
Now, pink guns. The way our culture is headed (or already there depending your perspective) people will tend to react on the side of caution (or overreact, again perspective) to anything that remotely looks like a firearm or threatening in any way, pink or not.
Let's ban all toy gun manufacturers from using any pink in their products. Then when we see a pink gun, we know it's probably a real firearm. How many kids would bother to paint there toy guns pink camo :dizzy:

but back to the pink gun issue I dont see the point and I'm fine with it. A cop's going to react the same way to someone pointing a toy pink gun at him/her if someone was to point a real pink gun at him/her.

Yea, it's the remington 597, and the truglo's came equiped. I think the pink camo and the blaze camo come with them on it stock. I can tell you this, though, they aren't gonna be good for long-distance shots on small targets. The fibers are fairly thick and they block off a good portion of the target, even at 25 yards.
