2 more in the works...Newsome is a very nice prospect!!! Treseel Express keeps on rolling.

Ohio State has a long-established pipeline with Cleveland Glenville, and this year two big-time Tarblooders are heavily considering the Buckeyes. One of them is four-star defensive end Jonathan Newsome, will he be a Buckeye?????:D

I'll make a wager on it......:D

it's comforting to know that we'll see more of this for years to come!

Wow, you're really going out on a limb there Dee! Who would guess a Glenville kid would consider OSU? Next thing you'll tell me is Teddy Ginn's Dad coaches there. Freeman is a beast of an O Lineman. USC is definately a player in that one.

Have you seen Williams Gholston? Yes that would be Vernon's cousin. He's only finishing his sophomore year of H.S. but the kids is a freak. He's a verified 6'7" 235 lber. What a family!! What do they feed them kids?

Shaquille Evans....The speedy 6'2" 192 wide receiver out of Inlgewood California...hot on the Buckeye Radar..........Ohio State has sent plenty of talented wide receivers to the NFL, and the Buckeyes are hoping that pedigree will help a player like Shaquelle Evans leave California and join the program.

This will be a tough catch since USC and 13 SEC AND PAC-10 schools are after this 5 star speedy WR...but OSU has laid it the offer on the table....we will have to wait and see.....coaches were out there again this past Wednesday......

Rumors are OSU landed James Jackson from Grand ledge MI today. He was high on UM early in the process, and until 2 weeks ago, we were in good shape. He was put off by the number of recievers that we are going to take this year along with all the WR's we took last year. Actually, it's a better decision for him to attend OSU. Definately will see early PT. I woulda loved to see him at UM:irked:

Ahhhhhhhhhhh...I was hoping someone would say it!!!!!  He will have his hands full in starting though.......lots of talent already on board.

I still like Shaquile more...bigger and has good 4.40 speed to boot.

The Ohio State Buckeyes picked up a wide receiver tonight with the commitment of Grand Ledge [Mi] star James Jackson. Jackson, one of the top wideouts in the country, told head coach Jim Tressel of his decision moments ago. Bill Greene talked with Jackson and filed this report.
James Jackson, Grand Ledge [Mi], became the 14th commitment for Ohio State tonight when he notified Buckeye head coach Jim Tressel of his decision.

"I have committed to Ohio State," Jackson stated tonight. "I called coach Tressel today and made it official. Coach Tressel was ecstatic to hear from me. Ohio State is the best place to play in the country. I have a great feeling that this is the right place for me. I love the coaches and so did my parents. I just know there's no way I could do better than Ohio State."

Jackson, 5-foot-11 and 175-pounds, brings blazing speed to the wide receiver position, evidenced by a reported 4.31 forty yard dash time. Jackson attended the Ohio State spring game and came away impressed.

"I loved everything about the spring game," he said. "The atmosphere was unbelievable. Truthfully, I love everything about Ohio State. To me there's no place like it. Committing to them was an easy decision."

Jackson admitted the relationships he has formed with the Ohio State coaching staff was a big factor in his choosing the Buckeyes.

"I have a great relationship with coach [Darrell] Hazell," Jackson stressed. "He seems like a very honest man and a coach that can get the most out of me. I also feel great to be able to play for Jim Tressel. I consider coach Tressel to be the best coach in the country. He's done great things at Ohio State. I hope to be a part of a lot more."

Finally Jackson spoke about the idea of some day catching passes from incoming freshman quarterback Terrelle Pryor.

"Of course Terrelle Pryor being there had an effect on me," Jackson said. "I wanted to choose a school that has a great quarterback and he's the best. Terrelle Pryor played a huge role in me committing to Ohio State. Everything about being a Buckeye is

I just looked over the "stable" of talent for pryor so far...we have 5 fresh receivers coming in or are in this year.....Washignton, Zanzebacher, Posey, Fields and now Jackson...most with 4.3-4.45 speed......ranked #4, #20, #40.#47 and #58 in their class in the country......do ya think we have some speed and talent coming in????

Not counting what else comes about.....would love to see Shaguille!!!

Jackson - Good short end speed, but he can be caught from behind. I know he won the state title in the 100 meters, but the state of Michigan didn't have much competition this past year - his winning time wouldn't have qualified him for the semi finals in Ohio. He should be good at route running and going across the field; he can cut on a dime and has a very quick first few steps. He has great 40 speed, but only average "all out" speed. If we lined up our cheetahs on one endzone and raced to the other, I suspect he would be watching a bunch of rumps cross in front of him. Better to have the quick steps than all out speed though.

I don't buy the not heading to UM due to early PT. He won't be getting any early PT on our roster either unless he does something very special. We are 6 deep ahead of him already and he has nothing on Chris Fields who will be coming in with him. We also will be looking to add at least another receiver to the group and maybe as many as 3 more.

He'll join the other horses in the stable and we will find out if he is good enough to see the race track in good time.

Red - If I were RR I would have a weekly visit to Cass Tech. It looks like they could be the "Cleveland Glenville" for UM - they have some really nice looking young players there.

and if you add Shaquille Evans and Jaamal Berry(RB with 4.3 speed and is quickly approaching the top back in the nation status) to this list.....oh man....grab the saddle and the reins...anyone playing us will need to hold on for dear life.:D :D

I wouldn't be surprised if we do land 2-3 more WR......We are working on 6 right now to add to the stable. :D

and the surprise candidate for the secondary on defense.......that has committed, but accepted an offer from OSU as an "athlete", to play on defense but excelled at another position as well in High School.....Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm who could that be?

No. You said they were ranked that high in their class, not in the class of recievers. I know what you were trying to do. Make it look like they were all top 100 players. As far as Washington goes, He went to OSU after UM pulled his offer. He called Carr crying, saying how he dreamed of being a Wolverine. And don't be putting my quotes up anymore after you change the words. I could easily change yours to let everyone know your fondness of farm animals and they'd probably believe it.

My quote......ranked #4, #20, #40.#47 and #58 in their class in the country

They are in the top 100 receivers in their class....receiving class....I really don't care if a lineman rated #1 is better than him and the receiver is rated #40....the #40 receiver will be a whole lot better at running pass routes and catching the football(if you know what that is) than the lineman:yikes: ......my god.......it all doesn't matter until they hit the field and show what they got...something Michigan players haven't done in years.

I'll give ya Posey. But you made it sound as if they were all Top 100 overall players. Nowhere did you say top 100 recievers class. Posey is the only Stud in that group. Jackson needs alot of football development. Your not getting Shaq either. He'll end up at UCLA or USC. He'll stay out west. You keep reading all the free articles about the top 100 players. LMAO. For that matter, UM had 3 recievers listed in the top 100 recievers list. Not to mention Michael Shaw who was a 4* RB and Terrence Robinson (who'll you'll know by the end of next year) who is a 4* athlete that will both be playing slot WR for us. All these guys were just in this last class.

Deehntr56

When you compare players in their "class" by skilled positions, you normally compare them to others in those positions relative to their position within the class. I can see why your having difficulty with this

Jackson needs a lot of development...Now that's another funny, he's better than any player you have now and coming...if he didn't bolt from Michigan and stayed there, all we would be hearing is how great he is...he is the savior to RR's program...he's a stud!!!!!!:cheeky-smiley-022:  He just wised up......His quote......Ohio State is the best place to play in the country. Dee, you might want to listen to Fish'n'Fool about Jackson. He's good, but not better than most the guys we already got. I'll name our WR's we have that are better. Matthews, Hemmingway, Stonum, Terrence Robinson (T-Rob), and we should get a comittment this weekend from Bryce McNeil, who is the 16th rated WR, compared to James Jackson being the 20th rated WR. That's why JJ cooled on us a couple weeks ago. McNeil has been a "silent Comitt" for a few weeks now, and both the coaches and JJ cooled on each other. On Shaq, why would we waste our time on a tall, not so quick WR that wouldn't fit our offensive scheme as good as others. We visited him and pretty much figured out that he's staying out west. Why waste time? On the whole athlete thing coming in, I'm not quite following you. I don't have a Buckeye premium, just a UM premium. If your implying K. Newsome, keep dreaming.

I think FNF has some good info for you, and your not picking up on it!!!

None of those you mentioned are better than jackson.

Just admit RR lost another one to Tressel....JJ Cooled on you because you don't have a quarterback and team to compete quite yet, maybe never, maybe someday and he doesn't want to wait until his Junior year to find out...he hopes he can make it as a starter here and his chances for NFL properity increases if he does.

Shaq would make RR and Michigan drool...but you don't have a chance on him....no quarterback and line...

McNeil is ok, but he needs work...has to improve on his pass routes and strength...definitley not a Shaquille Evans or has the speed of Jackson....and not in the same class as them or Robiskie, Posey, Saine and others.

Nope on the athlete question....you will hear it sooner or later.

Dee, you gotta be kidding. You actually believe that JJ is better than all those guys we have? LOL. You can't even be objective about anything. Mcneil is ranked ahead in the rankings that you always point out, but since JJ is a OSU guy now, those don't apply in this situation, huh?:coco: You keep referring to Shaq Evans, even though you won't get him. We're in on some highly ranked players that won't give Tressell a sniff, but I wouldn't constantly brag about it. Atleast not till they signed with us:p

Deehntr56
05-16-2008, 10:43 PM
Yes he is...he's also faster.

Mcneil is ranked a tad higher, but is not as quick and has to work on running his routes better and needs to develop his strenthg as well....some question his commitment to the conditioning to get there.

Shaquille Evans is almost a near candidate to stay out West....but there is movement on his end to come to OSU due to the offense that we will be running with Pryor...Pryor is selling many WR's...jackson is the 1st one to buy in....Evans is possible:cheeky-smiley-022: ....again anything can happen with the Tressel Express.

RR's reputation keeps many players looking somewhere else......Tressel's reputation has many coming to his program:D

Redhunter1012
05-17-2008, 09:32 AM
Dee, what is exactly RR's reputation? That he took WV from the bottom of College Football and bulit them into a powerhouse using primarily lower ranked players? Or is it the reputation of basically having invented the veer option spread offense that he uses now to dominate most opponents? Maybe, it's the nasty reputation that he has from leaving WV because they renegged on all their promises. I'm not sure, but I think he found the better job. Now, you wanna talk about the players Tressell payed at Youngstown State? How they were facing infractions because of Good Ole Tressell? Or how about the Plethora of players that came out 3 years ago and said how Dick Tressell set up phony jobs for them where they basically showed up for a couple hours a week and were paid upwards of a thousand bucks a week. Or Tressell calling out RichRod for the whole gentlemens agreement and then turning around and doing it himself. Hell, even the same day RR had Roundtree switch from Purdue to UM, Tressell was trying to sweet talk Patrick Omameh (OL) into switching from UM to OSU. The thing is, you guys have the goods when it comes to bragging. You got 1 of the top 3 teams annually, a hell of a winning streak over UM, and killer recruiting classes coming in every year. I know by me being on here talking about UM is foolish, but it's the same thing that drives me to spend thousands of dollars a year on hunting and fishing, not to mention all the time, when I could just save money and get meat from the store cheaper. It's just something I love to do, as do you. Even though I get heated talking crap to you guys, to me it just makes the rivalry better. I honestly hope OSU stays on top of College football and UM can join them. I honestly believe RR will get them there.

Deehntr56
05-17-2008, 10:13 AM
RR will be good for the program, as long as he has his players believing he's honest and up front, and they feel he has "their" best interest in them. Now we all know everyone is doing what they can for themselves, but how you project it means a lot. There is a "feeling" by many RR is only worried about himself, and what he can do to make himself successful. That will help and hurt you, Help you win...and hurt you in some phases of the recruiting and taem balance. Doesn't mean he won't win....doesn't mean he won't be successful...you have a different style of coach...in some cases controversial.....but in the same token he is focused. RR is going to do whatever it takes to make himself look good....you can read into that any way you like.

Tressel is not a saint by any means, but he knows how to carry himself, and talk to the players and he has garnished their respect. He knows how to handle the team, and how to talk to the recruits and make them feel they are "part" of the program and they are in it for "both" sides......for The player to be successful, and the "Team" untilmately to be successful. When you have that balance and respect....from parents and players in High School, and that carries to them through college....you tend to be successful. You don't alays get what you want, but you usually come out on top.

Now......Tressel also is very smart...he's a student of the game...and winning more than 5 National titles...you have to have a clue on what you are doing.

I wasn't Big on Lloyd Carr before last season....but after watching him very closely last year, and how he handled his players (Henne and Hart especially) and how respected he was in their eyes, and how they played for him......even though he lost to OSU and Tressel knew how to beat him.....HE IS MICHIGAN!!!!

That Man earned my utmost respect, would love him to continue coaching, because he was good for the PLAYERS...Not because he has to beat OSU and lost his job because he couldn't...but because he is a hell of a humanatarian in my eyes, and he would help some young players shape their lives in the right way.......he was a great person......... and I hope he stays at Michigan until he retires.:coolgleamA:

This was a good man...your program will miss him on the sidelines!!!!

Oh...I agree spending money on hunting and some fishing in certain years exceeded my wallet capacity...or in other words...I couldn't keep my money in my wallet long enough!!!

I'll be in Alberta for Trophy Mule Deer, and maybe Colorado for Elk again next year...and possibly even Wyoming and using my 9 preference points there for Shiras Moose that I have been applying for for almost a decade to get.

10 years! Hope you are successful. I agree on Lloyd being a great teacher of football and moreso life. But, he admitted, the game had passed him by. He didn't have what it takes to go out and recruit kids and stay on top of everything

Jamaal Berry lists Florida and OSU as his top 2 choices as of late this week....does UM or others have a shot?????

I still say Florida..........

and as I mentioned earlier in one of these posts...a friends daughter being heavily recruited in track...took the state long jump title yesterday at 19'9.5 inches....congrats Brittany!!!!!:) :)

OSU has moved up to one of her top 3 choices in the recruiting process!!!!

Congrats to your friend Dee. Not sure how serious UM is being with Berry and the other RB recruits. I believe Berry is supposed to visit UM later this year though. I agree on Berry and UF. But, OSU has a chance if he waits to decide. With Wells leaving, he could definately see a better chance at OSU than UF. Fla is stacked at RB's with the same skillset as him.

Thanks Red...after states this weekend.....she committed to OSU:biggrin:

She long jumped 19' 9.5 inches on her second attempt...won it all on her second try.

She'll do well, and she'll major in accounting...watch for Jacobs in the long jump next year or the year after......she has the potential to be a 21' long jumper.....she is very talented.

Jamaal..we'll see what he does in the coming months...right now he is visiting and leveraging......FSU....Has the best shot.

It's amazing how many Studs use both UM and OSU for tickets to that game isn't it? Although his interest is definitely legit.
