First flatheads of the year

Went out to a local pond up the road from my house friday night after catching some bait in buck creek. We got up to the pond and got our gear ready and set out our lines. It wasn't 30 mins in the night and my clicker started screaming... so I set the hook and the battle was on... after about 5 mins, the first flathead on the year was on the bank, a 24lb, took a pumpkin seed bluegill in about 5' of water, got some pics and released her... well if that wasn't enough to start off the season, especially on the first trip of the year out night fishing, I cast right back out in the same spot I caught the 24lber and before I could set my pole down and turn on the clicker.... my reel was peeling drag off it.... "man this is crazy!" I set the hook on this one, and again after a good 5 min fight, I had the 2nd flattie of the season on the bank... weighed her, got some pictures, and released her... she came in at just over the 21lb mark... came on a green sunfish....

After regaining my composure, we went without a bite for a few hours and right before we left my buddy got a good run on a small live whitebass and missed it... probably another flattie, but we will never know
