i hate to addmit this but someone out there saw me do it so there is no sense trying to hide it .last monday i went to orwell w/a by myself .when i got there ,guys were in the parked and already in the wood s,not wanting to disturb thier hunt i decieded to walk up the old rr tracks and go in from the back .while walking nice and easy looking off into the public hunting land i didnt pay attention to the field to my left its private land .herd some pecking so i hunch down to glass over the area didnt see anything so i kept going .about 200 yards down the trail i glanced over to my left and out in the field is 2 big toms so i get down out of sight,my heart racing adreniline pumping and belly crawl to get my decoy up without being seen .i get my decoy up and crawl back to a tree to sit up against .i peck a few times and wait then few more calls .i looked out from behind the tree to see where they were , they hadn't moved .so i poked my head out a bit further and look through my binoculars at the birds ,you guessed it someone had set up 2 pretty boys on the other side of the field and they looked like the real deal form 200 yards out .and in my first day excitement didnt look with the glasses first .duh .anyway i sat there for a minute before getting up and grabbing my decoy and walking on .so to that guy who undoubtedly when home with the story of the guy who tried to call in his decoys probobly is still laughing at that one .on the other hand orwell is packed with turkeys just take your waders and bug spray .

Dont worry it happens to the best of us. Actually that guy isnt too smart hunting over two tom decoys near a WMA.

i heard of a guy last year putting a beautiful stalk on a nice mound of dirt last year that looked like a bedded deer , only to realize it was a clump of dirt with a branch lying on it, no it wasnt me it was some guy at the check station that was tagging in a deer when i was i over heard him telling his buddies about it

I think we all can share a humorous or embarrasing story from hunting experiences. Thanks for telling yours ;)

I wouldn't feel bad about that, those things do look realistic and, at 200 yards without a doubt even more so. Atleast you took the time to access the situation and determine they were fakes. Where some bozo's would have put the stalk on them and even shot at them, you did good.
