Just thought I'd post a pic of this neat forcing cone and choke tube diagram. This shows what a "lengthened" forcing cone looks like compared to a stock barrel's.;)

Hey thanks for showing that diagram.. I know the guy who gave me my gun changed the forcing cone and did some other modifications for my gun to fit me better and shoot the way I wanted it. Just never seen the picture of the before and after :)
Thanks maytom:cool:
That makes it easier for people to understand by what it does.

What does something like that cost to get done?

Forcing cones usually cost anywhere from $50.00-$75.00 depending on who's doing the work. Not being a firearms expert here, it was explained to me that having the forcing cone done along with getting a custom turkey choke for your gun, you should be getting somewhere around a 10-15% denser pattern. Having the Forcing cone "lengthened" will prevent the flattening of some shot as it's squeezed through this area of the barrel, thus eliminating flyers from the pattern. Being a fanatic on patternig my gun and loads, I feel that it's worth the money.;)

Thats for the info. I'm going to check with some gunsmiths about getting my gun done.
zfish, where did they get it done?
