My step-dad is heavy into reloading, and i have recently showed an intrest in the reloading of rifle ammo such as .223 22-250 and 220 swift. He was showing me some different bullets he reloads with and he showed me a box of "varmint grenades". Its a bullet made by barnes bullets and i was reading an article about them in a reloading magazine and it said they explode on impact. There was pictures of the bullet hitting a grape at the bottom of the page and I was amazed by this and thought i would read about them on the internet and found a video of the bullet hitting the grape. here is the URL http://www.barnesbullets.com/products/rifle/varmint-grenade/ its the link that says "High speed video clip" ENJOY!

Accuracy wise Barnes is always a few steps behind Nosler or Sierra.

I got some VG's in .22 and shot them through my 8" twist Bushmaster Predator, and they barely went sub 1" at 100yds.

Wouldn't a regular round do the same thing? I've seen high speed photos of bullets hitting apples and doing the same thing. I wouldn't think it would take much to explode a grape.

Its not the grape exploding that is the big deal- it's the bullets completely exploding upon impact with the grape. Not necessarily good for every application, but it sure cuts down on ricochets. Same intent of Varmint style ballistic tips and v max's.
