We will be planting clover and chicory As soon as it dries enough that we won't sink in the field. This will draw in turkeys and deer. When the typical drought of summer hits, chicory is extremely drought resistant as it has a long taproot. The best book I have read on food plots and property management is Grow Em Right by Neil and Craig Dougherty. Excellent book. They are the owners of north country whitetails. Check them out on the web. Summer plots will be turnips, rape, wheat, and some rye and oats. We work on them around July and August. I buy my seed where farmers buy theirs. Much cheaper and I don't notice much of a difference, except more money in my pocket. More money for fertilizer and lime.

I have 18 plots any where from 0.10 acres to 0.75 acres for a total of around 6-6.5 acres. I'll probably put in buckwheat in mid may and till under in august for turnips, clover, chickory, w/wheat and oats for the fall. Main goal is to work on PH and get it up to par for right now
