- It's more than five months until the start of football season, but Brian Hartline is spending his time trying to run away from people. The Ohio State wide receiver is putting his speed to work back on the track this spring.

Hartline, who will be a red-shirt junior for the football team in the fall, had not participated in track since the spring of 2005, when he won state championships in both hurdle events as a senior at Canton GlenOak. It's been all football since then for the 6-foot-2, 180-pound Hartline.

"I'm competitive, and when I walked away from track, I did miss it," said Hartline ...

You think he's working on his speed and agility for this fall?

Could be. I did track to stay in shape for sports.

With Butch reynolds gone several guys have taken advantage of the staff on the track team. Although it was just officially announced Reynolds had left, he has been void of typical duties for some time (too busy with charity work and other areas).

Hartline I suspect is good enough to help the team; he placed in the indoor Big Ten meet 2 months ago. He won't be taking home any gold medals, but he can be very competitive and is smart enough to play 2 sports and maintain good grades in the classroom; which is really demanding.

Reymnolds was recently announced, but evidently he wanted to commit more time to "other areas" and interests at this time in Akron.......they are undecided on whether to fill his position or create one in a different capacity....

Butch will really be missed by you guys. That is one thing that excites me about the new staff at UM. We're actually hiring an Olympic speed coach to work with players. Alot of OSU's success and great development is because of Reynolds and Lichter
