Shore development, large-fish exploitation cited

"It is my impression that Lake Erie is structurally and functionally unhealthy," said Dr. Koonce, a biology professor at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland. He is viewed by his peers as an esteemed colleague.

Well at least the Cuyahoga river hasn't caught on fire lately.

Strange you should mention the Cuyahoga River fire. I just saw a couple of slides of that fire Wednesday evening during a presentation in Whitehall, Michigan. Your fire will remain famous around the Great Lakes for many years.

It's a sad way to be remembered and nothing to be proud of, but things have improved drastically since those days. I have thought that I have seen a downward trend in the fishing there the past 3 years, and I've fished that lake probley at least 500 times or better in my lifetime. I'm for any environmental laws that better water quality which in turn increases habitat in the form of grasses and other aquatic growth for the marine life to thrive in. :)
