Driving to work this morning, spotted a group of about 15 in a bean field. Must be getting those sprouts I guess. One looked like a good Tom, couldn't really tell the beard size as I almost went in the ditch.......must
have been the drool dripping on the steering wheel!
:woohoo1:
To the land owner will not give out permission! Anybody else out there seeing any Turks?

Man.......what I wouldn't give to have my own place to hunt. I've been checking out some land around here for some time. I have struck out the last 2 years. Got kicked out of Krogers last year too..........they don't like hunters setin up and trying to call in the Buterballs. I think the camo and gun made the shoppers nervous!:D

Anyway....I need to get out and do some scouting! Anyone do any scouting for turks in the evening?

Have you ever tried Public land???? I know it is often looked down on but if you put in the boot leather you will find good places to hunt if you get a little lucky..

I'm not talking just about big places like WNF either. Even small state wildlife areas can be good. I hunt a small area like this thats less then 1500 acres and gets A LOT of pressure. The advantage that I have though is knowing this places like the back of my hand. I have took they time and walked this place in circles, and have found some areas that most hunters over look. The past two years I have gotten both of my turkeys within the 1st week, and 3 of the 4 came from the same spot.... So if you have any public land around you at all give it a shot man, you never know you might be surprized..

I'm heading down Saturday to scout the family farm and beat on the few doors that I haven't all ready asked in the county. It's getting tough, real tough to find a place to hunt that isn't like state land.

Deer hunting is much more fun than turkey hunting. ;)

I might head on over to Jackson while I am down that way since buckslayer has so much luck at gaining permission;)

The best thing I like about turkey huntin is finding a sack of shrooms on the way back to the truck.

was out yesterday drivin around saw about 100 or more turkey in a corn field in hartsgrove .at first i thought they were geese there were so many .i when to the farmers door and luckily got permission to hunt there .all he wanted was a turkey for himself .i said i would be happy to give him on of mine and explained the tag system ,he thought i could just shoot one for him because they were on his property and he could tag it .but i told i could get him close enough to do it himself ,he got pretty excited and said he hadnt hunted for 30 years hadnt found the time.he invited us in and we stayed about 2 hours and talked with him i apologized for bothering him on easter ,he said it was no bother ,i was nice to have visitors .i have been turned down so many times when asking permission you come to expect it for the most part ,but some times you get lucky and meet some nice folks who are more than happy to have you commin around .just goes to show there are decent people out there who do give permission all you have to do is ask.
