I've been out 5 times already. I'm in the cincinnati area with good access to some gravel pits. Had really good luck on the large mouth with a 7 inch black power worm. About three weeks ago I was using a 3 inch white curly tail and wore the bass out. Been trying to locate a few slab crappie just haven't had any luck yet.:D

I'm supposed to be heading out this weekend with Stonewall on his jon boat to East Fork, he's supposed to be mounting a new fish finder tonight so we'll see if that helps out any... I'll get a full fishing report back on here if we go. I'm just worried it's gonna be like all my other outings to East Fork fishing and get skunked but hopefully we can do some scouting for spring turkey here in a few weeks.

lake is still high, just got back from going out today with Stonewall and its about 20 ft above normal pool... Didn't catch a darned thing, not even a bite which doesn't surprise me, I never have any luck on the lake but it was good to get out... A lil cold but we wanted to scout some areas for spring turkey season and see if his new fish finder worked.. I was surprised to see quite a few other guys out on boats fishing, most likely for crappie...

I have been out around 50 or so times already this year... alot of lakes are just now getting to be fishable either from water levels or from the fish not biting....

Clark Lake has been producing alot of gills and crappie, along with the trout the DNR stocked on Mar. 14th.... the channels and bullheads are becoming active also

CJ Brown is starting to heat up... the walleye bite and crappie bite were picking up at the end of february, and I was out over the weekend at the mouth of buck creek where it goes into the lake and the channels were doing well... ended up with a total of 11 with the biggest around 6lbs... the whitebass will soon be spawning so thats a plus

the Mad has been way too high to fish here lately, but with waters receding, I made it out over the weekend and caught a brown and a sucker... it shouldnt be long until things heat up out there

I have heard from a buddy that indian lake and st. marys, were both picking up on the crappie bite... they were catching some in the 12-16" range on small jigs and spinners fished near cover

They still have the Bantom boat ramp closed so I decided to fish from the shore. The lake is still up from last weeks rain and the dam spillway is more for white water rafting than anything else. So, I tried a spot nearby that has seasonal runoff into the lake. I didn't have a thermometer so I can't speak as to the water temp. but I did spy one small frog and several small fish so things must be getting better.
I used my usual hook, worm and bobber approach. Just cast it out and let the current from this little stream carry out into the lake. Well, on about the tenth pass I hooked up nicely with this striper.

Well, I thought I'd just post a picture of it, but I guess thats not gonna happen. (Everything has to be so flippin complicated...)
Anyway, just close your eyes and imagine a 3LB striper that's just over 19 inches long.

Good luck everybody....

sounds good, where were you fishing if you don't mind divulging your lil honey hole, was it back at the end of bantam rd off 32 where you down the creek which is usually dried up to get to the lake?? I haven't fished that spot any but seen guys fishing there several times while squirrel hunting..

I'm right on the Great Miami north of Dayton and it has been too high to even try to fish lately. If the rain will hold off, it should be down enough for some decent catfish and smallmouth fishing in a week or so.

so far i have only gone to lincoln park pond behind the fraze..its slow going water still cold but i pulled out at nice 15lb carp today..use hot dogs or a mix of corn and bread then just be patient as any good fisherman knows it just takes time. u have also seen a few other people pull out a few 8lb carp and some small mouth bass..the bass were caught on worms.

I know that pond behind the Fraze is or used to be full of BIG cats where people would dump them in from paylakes.....

in the springfield area... the cats in local ponds and creeks are starting to pick up... wont be long until the WB run in CJ Brown

Just got back I did pretty well in the creek today. A dozen white bass all in the 10-13 in range, 2 saugeye and a pretty big crappie. All in all a good days fishing.
