I'll be up there about all day Sunday. I always enter photos in the Outdoor Photography Contest, so I have to be there by 10AM Sunday and pretty much can't leave until around 2PM.
Who else from Ohio Sportsman will be in attendance?

I may be ther manning a booth for Aim Low Productions...Depends if we have our hunting DVD back from the replicator in time....Don't think it would be worth it to just have the bowfishing DVDs

Assuming we survive our trip this weekend, and our bosses decide to let us out to play together again, we can make another weekend of it ;)

It is a really good show for outdoorsmen of all ages. There are probably hundreds of deer mounts on display both from this season and past years, photography displays, seminars on several subjects, and tons of booths for products, businesses, and guide services. It really is a good time.
bowhunter1023, maybe we should take our Scent Smokers and get them autographed by Brock?

I will be there, most likely Sunday, as I too will be entering some outdoor photographs. Probably won't win, but it will be cool. Plus, it will be nice to see some deers and some turks. ;)

Well worth the time, I took my Grandson (2 years old) and had to push him in a stroller and its a little crowed for that, but he had a great time. Live animals to touch, we got our piictures taken with bear cubs. The deer mount contest is good to see. Will be doing it again this year.

Wow! You really know how to spend a Saturday. lol
I HATE that it coincides with the beef show. It congests the whole place with a bunch of tire kickers and turkey call novices that drive ya nuts!
I think it would be better if it didn't coincide with that. I think more true hunters and sportsmen would go if it wasn't such a hassle with all those on-lookers with nothing better to do than wander over from the building next door.
Also, maybe drop it to $5 entrance fee. They make their money on the booth space. If more true hunters and sportsmen were attending then the vendors would likely get more sales and then the show hosts could increase the booth price to a premium. However, as these things go it's a numbers game. By planning these functions in conjunction it gets #s' in the freakin door and that's all they care about.

obtw.....I'll probably end up going

I was strictly being facetious when I said I would wonder over. The Beef Show is free. I can guarantee you that the Beef Show gets assulted by "wanders" than the Expo because you have to pay so much to get in the Expo. I don't see it as being a huge problem for either show.

I really let my hair down on friday night's:mischeif:
Nope. Not just because I'm gimp.......I went once. That was enough until they decide to open things up more. It's stupid how they waste so much space in the back and make you fight the sea of camo. :tsk:  :coco: :irked: :nono:
And the cost is basically financial rape.

Gotta agree with ya Jimmy. Way too much wasted space. Wasn't it $10 to get in the door last year ?

Good deal. Glad you got a laugh. My comment was mainly about the wasted space I saw last year and the crowded conditions on Saturday, the main day lots of people can attend. For $15 a head ($10 I think last year) + parking + food + 2 hour drive, hey it all adds up when you bring guests. So give me some "space" for my money, they had plenty, simply didn't use it. I didn't say I wouldn't pay it, but I would like to see it improve and try to hold the costs down. My entertainment dollars mean a lot to me. With increased cost should come increased value. All I'm saying there.
Also, it should be a rule when you buy a new turkey call, no practicing until you are outside the building!!! :cheeky-smiley-022:

SHP will have 2 booth again this year and we will be releasing our new videos, "Fair Chase Whitetails 7 volume 1 and 2", at the show if everything goes as planned. We will have a big booth on the left hand side of the show and another big booth in the back right hand corner. Stop in and say hi. For what it is worth I would go to the show Friday, Saturday evening or Sunday. Saturday morning is packed!!!!!
cool more slunger hollow videos...

Your grandson will want to go a month from now after you explain, I'm sure. Maybe show him some information on what's going to be there and get him thinking about what he might really be interested in. Plus he has another month to get "donations" from the family for his pocket money. That's what mine do whenever they are planning a trip, we kinda expect it from our kids and the grandkids :) :D

My plan was also to go to the Expo Saturday 10am or so and stay till 3 or 4, we had a good time last year despite the crowd. My wife was in the hospital 2 days this week so it will depend on how she is feeling if I can go...or not. Oh and I may not have gas money... $3.50/gal :yikes: It's 180+ mile round trip for me...
I'll be wearing an Ohiosportsman cap if I'm there. Cull me out of the herd if you have to and say hello! :coolgleamA:

As I said, my wife and I will be there, and perhaps a friend of mine and his son too, if he has to work we will probably bring his son with us anyways. Deerhunt45, and anyone else that wants to.......we all oughta plan on meeting up somewhere inside at a certain time. Would be nice to actually meet some of ya'll.....in person. Any suggestions as to where and when?

I'll be there on Friday evening. I think Coonie and I are the only people on here that said they where going on Friday. I've never been there on a Friday but I hope it will be less crowded. Saturday is brutal. I think this year I'm gonna purchase a Slunger Holler DVD. Those guys rule!!! I went with my good huntin buddy last year, (she's a female, lives to hunt and is VERY VERY easy on the eyes), well those Slunger Holler boys almost tripped over their tounges when she got her pic taken with all them. I'm going with her again this year, I wonder if they will remember us?????:chicken:

The only bad thing about Friday is that the deer racks/mounts are just starting to come in to get measured. They're still bringing them in on Saturday morning. By Saturday afternoon they have most of them mounted/displayed. And/or on Sunday morning is good but by Sunday afternoon folks are already taking their mounts home.

Anyway I have been in the past, it never really changes or gets any bigger, so rather then pay for admission and gas to get there I will just order my Slunger Hollow Videos over the internet, and spend Sunday in the woods trimming shooting lanes, doing some shed hunting, etc.

Just got back from the expo, Kind of disappointed, there were some good booths, but a lot more junk than before. Took me longer to drive down and back than it did to see everything and sit in on part of two seminars. Small ponds seminar wasn't very good, guy was trying to say things and had no basis or facts to back them up. Said stagnant green water was better for deer had up to 80% protein in it?, Didn't know anything about EHD and if these small ponds could end up contributing to it. Thinks water weighs 5 or 6 pounds to the gallon. Food plot seminar was a good basic foodplot 101 seminar, but nothing else. Their food plot display is seriously lacking. Friday night was a nicer time to be there crowd wise and you could stop and talk to people. Got to talk to the folks at Ohio Outdoor News, and that Scent Smoker Guy! and a few other booths that I knew. Will probably be a few years before I return.

I went yesterday. I always have a business conference in Columbus Thursday and Friday the same week every year. Luckly the Friday conference ends around 1:00, which is perfect timing to head over to the expo.
I was disappointed in the lack of deer mounts this year. Although it was only Friday and since it was raining some people will probably wait until Sat or Sun to bring in the mounts. I did find a good deal on a Moultrie Pro Hunter tripod feeder for $80. Also talked with a couple of Elk outfitters. My wife and I look forward to the expo each year.

Got back last night, all and all, I see where you guys are coming from, it did seem a little skimpy from years past. The locked antler display was cool, its amazing what those 2 bucks must go through before they die, tines through eye sockets, bone, its brutal!!! Beer was nice and cold, at $7.00 a pop, it should be. Copenhagen Girls where smokin hot!!! I figured the bring-in mounts would be scarce, and they where. I almost booked a July fishing trip to Canada, it seemed like a hell of a deal, something to plan maybe for the summer of 09'. The group I went with could have fun on a sinking ship, so it was a good time last night!!!
