Buckslayer...........how much do you burn on the tips? I'm guessing just enough to blacken? I got a couple of woods that just don't seem to hold up when using. I tried sanding and a little fine tuning but they still don't sound right. Just wondering?:banghead3:

I use diaphrams 90% of the time.
My favorites are (in order):
1. M.A.D. Calls "Poison" 3.5
2. Gobbler's Choice 2.5 Magnum Yelper
3. Any H.S. Strut split V's

The Poison is extremely versatile... capable of the loudest yelps and softest clucks and purrs. Its also easy to blow.

The Mag Yelper is a very raspy call, which I like.

And the H.S. split V's are just easy to blow and sound pretty good as well.

The one type that I do not like are the Primos "sonic dome" diaphrams. I just hate the feel of that plastic dome on the roof of my mouth and they dont fit me well.

-Benson's diaphram (3 to choose from)
-Benson's box call
-H.S. Strut "Super Raspy"

I have had great results with the Benson calls, they seem to produce when all else fails, very crisp clear tones on the double and single. Nice rasp and tone with the triple reed.

Well I change my mind... I just bought a Woodhaven Stinger Series Copperhead II diaphram. It sounds unbelievable! So now I'm looking at Woodhaven #1, M.A.D. Poison #2, and the Gobbler's Choice is #3. Only thing that sucks is the Woodhaven was $9.99:irked: Oh well though... it sounds good enough to be worth $15 IMO.
