Cabelas 5mm neoprene hunting waders. Get the 5mm for cold weather hunting/fishing. They cost a little more, but they are much warmer and will last longer than the 3mm. Neoprene is very flexible, warm, and waterproof.

For me I guess it really depends on how you use them and when you'll get the most use out of them. From an affordability aspect Neoprene are the best price hands down. That being said, the prices for some of the other materials that are out there now have also dropped to somewhat reasonable prices.

Knowing you steelhead fish the one thing I will recommend is that you do NOT buy a lug sole boot under any circumstances. Bad news on the Erie tribs.

If your pretty much going to use them late October through April then it's tough to beat a pair of boot foot 5 mil neoprenes. They're the warmest and most durable stuff on the market. I you fish much at all in the May throough August period I'd go another direction. Maybe a pair of 3 mil neoprenes. You'll get hot in the summer but it will be bearable.

I used Neoprene for a long long time and they've surved me well, I still keep a pair of 3 mill stocking foots as a spare pair.

As far as your actual question though regarding what I use now though.

My go to waders at this point are a pair of Simms Gortex waders. They're awesome and I use them year round, I just layer up under them and I'm fine in almost any weather.

If you buy a stocking foot wader make sure you buy your boots a size larger then what seems right when you try them on our you'll be hating life when you try to put them on over heavy socks to fish steel. I ruined the seam in the heel of a pair of neoprenes because they were too tight and I forced them a little more than I should have. An expensive learning experience.

Thanks yea I plan to only use them from winter-spring mainly fly-fishing and sometimes hunting. Or sitting out in the cold. I'm not to worried about the summer times I like to chill in the water. :D Sweet my list is almost done. wadder, fly-rod just need to find all the flies i tied. I had a collection and I lost my whole box :(
