I can't say which of the two is the quietest, as I shoot a Hoyt, but a lot of it is in how the bow is set up. Ideally, buy a bow you can shoot comfortably with the limbs close to bottomed out. Bow mounted quivers add a lot of vibration and noise, so I like to use a hip quiver. String silencers and stablizers make quite a difference also. I think you would be happy with either brand, as they're both quality bows. I'm not sure the difference would even be noticeable.
i shoot a mathews q2xl. was kinda leary at first but am glad i got it .it is very quiet.my buddy got one too and his is quiet.not sure about the bow techs never shot them or been around anyone that has. was leary on the q2xl because people said you got a lot of string noice but it is a quiet bow .only thing you hearis the arrow comin out of it as it is goin through te air

I haven't been able to shoot either of these bows yet but I will before I buy.I do like the grip better on the Mat, butI don't know yet if there are any grip options on the BT. My local bow shop only sells Mathews,Bowtech,PSE and I,m not gonna bother them until I have money in hand to buy.

I've got a Mathews SQ2. It is the quietest bow I've ever shot.
I used to have a PSE Thunderflight Express (that's where I got my handle). It was the LOUDEST bow I ever shot..

I shoot a Mathews q2xl and a Mathews icon these two bows are very quite bows and all i have on them are Simms limb savers and on the q2xl i have a set of string leeches which help out alot,Have not shot a bowtech before but shot behind a guy that was shooting that mighty might and that thing was pretty load,As for hoyts you can tell some one is shooting one of these two to three targets behind you,but whichever one you choice to go with make sure it fits you and you are happy with your purchase and good luck and have fun its a hard decision to make when looking at two fine bow companies.

I shot an SQ2 and a VFT Extreme back in March. I thought the Bowtech was slightly more quiet than the Mathews. However, I liked the way the Mathews felt in my hands and ended up buying the SQ2.

I have to wonder why you would think that all Hoyt's are loud. I've only owned two ( I keep my bows a long time), but both are extremely quiet. I have heard a lot of target bows at the shoots that sound like small guns going off, but not only Hoyts. A target set up is quite a bit different than my hunting set up.

Ive got a Bowtech "stalker" and have never seen a bow this quiet. I missed a small buck at 25 yards w/ it the first year I had it :o and he never heard it he just turned and looked at my arrow in the ground beside him and keept eating. But, I did make a good hit the second shot. I have been with people that are shooting Matthews and they just dont seem to be as fast, or as light. The only silencer Ive got it teranchala string silencers.

The Bowtech Stalker is one I really like and probably go with. At 2.9lbs. its real attractive but those horizontal limbs on the others is pretty cool lookin.

I shot a Black Knight and a Patriot single cam. I really liked the Patriot and thought it was pretty sweet and easy to shoot. That was until I found out it was only 50 pounds. I asked to shoot a Patriot dual cam at 70 pounds. After a bit the kid behind the counter found one, but it wasn't set up to shoot. He let me draw it back.
Now let me tell you this. I'm am in pretty descent shape. I work out regularly and could easily handle the 80 pounds @ 65% let off on my old PSE Thunderflight Express. That thing was a tank to shoot, but the PDC made it look like a kiddies bow..... No I know that you use different muscles to draw and hold back a bow and that you could be Arnold Schwartzenager and still have a hard time drawing a heavy wieght bow, but what really got me was how it took off when I started to let it down... It dang near ripped my shoulder out of my socket. Infact my shoulder hurt the rest of the day.
After that I decided I'll stick with my Mathews SQ2. She may not be a rocket launcher, but she's VERY comfortable to shoot and that's what matters to me.
I've never shot any other BT's so they may be much nicer.

George,
try shooting carbon. I use the "carbon express" terminator series.

wow one of these days i'm gonna git convinced.i cant really cut down carbon because its too much advanced technology...fiberglas an alum. beat carbon to the punch on that count an i switched on those 2 counts .switched from woodies.xpense is the roadblock right now.i cant see any arrahs bein over 40$ a doz. especially for huntin

I shoot a Bowtech Mighty Maite and it's pretty quiet. Darn near all bows are now though. You still need whiskers or string leeches, but that's all I have on mine and all you hear is my release feathers whistle. The Mathews are louder with nothing on them, but quiet nicely too.
George, I'll bet the woodies are significantly heavier which would explain the noise difference. The heavier the arrah the more energy it'll absorb making it quieter, but slower.

yup but i think hollow reverberates the noise or you know what it sounds like if you stick your head in a drum an talk, how loud that is.
