Oh boy....theres pretty of places where you can get permission to hunt for free. Keep asking around and even if you get turned down be nice and continue to make small talk for a couple minutes. I have had people change their minds.

Hit up Champaign county, theres an auditors webpage for both Clark and Champaign countys, you can ID parcels of land, and find the land owners info: name, address, how much property tax they pay ect. Highlight propertys that look good and contact landowners.

I agree, BUT you usually don't have the place to yourself. You show up on opening day and there is 5 trucks park there to hunt. Been there done that, and still doing that...............:yikes: I don't know how many times I thought I had a great place only to show up and see multiple trucks parks on the property. Yes I agree, there are still some people who will let you hunt. Sometimes, though, it is more problems than it is worth.

Welcome to the forum.

That's about it Darron. I would add...get yourself the county plat book/maps to go with your topos (Chamber of Commerce). Good start to identifying potential properties to hunt and who to ask for permission. You will hear no a lot, but the more info you have before asking, the better your odds for a yes, imo.

Fill er up and do what all of us are, hit the road and get to knocking,as i think its safe to say we are ALL LOOKING FOR A PRIVATE PLACE TO HUNT. I have 5 now where there is just me at 3 of them and 2 of us at the rest PERSESTINCE pays off, because your gonna be getting plenty of NO's. Good luck...DOC
