best time - Sept. or October?

Hello all! I am new here and setting up a hunt for me and my friend. I've heard different things about when is the best time to hunt,but I never considered September. Won't it be too warm? Anyone like to hunt at the end of September? thanks.

i might suggest an old big stand up freezer you can put your deer in to hang or store till you can get butchered .always think of what your going to do with your deer afterwards in the warm weather .you dont want to waste meat .other than that i am out first day sept 29 th great time to hunt .

Jackalope is right. Halloween is good. If I'm using vacation days, I go from Oct. 27 thru Nov 7.

Every year I see a lot of buck activity from Oct. 22-24th, including some mature bucks.

Last week of October all the way till gun season is good. I'd say the best time is the first week or two of November.

November 1st-8th..Every buck in the woods is chasing or trying to chase (AKA PRE-RUT) IMO best time of the year. :shhh:

The best time to hunt, i've found, is anytime I am headed back from Southern ohio. I see them in the fields on fence lines and coming in and out of the woods. Seems the best time to hunt is right after I leave the woods. I will call you and let you know when I am heading in. lol

I noted the week that I saw the most activity this past year & it was from Nov 14th-20th.

This was around central ohio, licking & fairfield counties.

I saw more bucks looking last year from nov 10 to the 16th,.I was in northeast ohio too.But it was a weird rut last year as i hunted hard for 3 weeks.But i did see some real brutes and got to picky and ended up with nothing.
