i love circle hooks ,i have caught bout 100 cats with them an havent had one swallow one yet, they hook em in the corner of mouth an its harder for em tuh get off...usually ole cat will set the hook for yuh but i do nothin different than any other hook...i also prefer super braid line like spiderwire or fire line for many reasons.low stretch helps setting hook as well as being able to use higher# test because of smaller dia. i have my line out over 100 yds from floating lit bobbers at night and all this is important

The are great for saltwater fishing too. You don't have to set the hook and they are pretty sturdy.
The only thing I don't like about them are their price.

I hear they becoming popular for the fly tyers using nymphs. Trout seem to hook themselves and many previously missed fish are now caught.

there are reasonable brands an they work as good as the expensive ones...only time i pay for the xpensive ones is when thats all i can find.as with everything its a status thing, they are no better

I use them for saltwater stripers when I'm out in New Jersey. They work great. Might be nice to try for cats.
Hey George, where you been night fishin' at?

So do I just set the hook like I would a regular one? You know the eye crossing set that is so much fun.

No, the one where if you miss the set, you fall backwards into the boat...
TF, stripers are lots more fun in saltwater. There's nothin like a half hour battle with a 20-plus pounder to get your blood pumpin.

I don't have a lot of experience in using circle hooks for catfish, but I have used them on my worm harnesses for walleye. They work well, but I have missed fish by yanking the hook out of the fish mouth with vicious hook set. Now, I just keep tight line and they are usually stuck.
