Looking for some good info oin trapping beaver, I have a good number here and if anything am looking to reduce that number and possibly save some of my trees, and advice would be greatly appreciated.... thanks in advance.

They are pretty much like trapping big muskrats. I always did best using large conibers and setting them in runs, holes, dam crossing, and feeder streams. You usually need block some of the opening off using stick to make a fence of sorts to fumnnel em into the traps...You also need to put a small log above the trap to make em dive into it.

I'm no expert but like you I am new to beaver trapping but I did catch 3 this year.I snared one and caught the other two in #3 leg hold traps.The snares are fairly cheap and don't take that much time to set.The leg hold traps set up on a drowning wire are the most effective IMO.Or you could just find a local trapper to come in a take them out :D

I have beaver trapped quite a bit. I used 330 conibears, but the snares have been more effective. Use them in trail sets, mound sets. But the reason I use them more is the ease of packing them in. 330's have there place like in runs and den holes. Just becareful when checking them and you can't see them. Been there done that so to speak.
