well the tourney turned out great except for a lack of participation. we ended up with11 teams consisting of 25 people. in the end everyone went home with prizes equal to that of their entry or better ,and all had a good time. we also discussed the site and the format and everyone liked the tourney where it is located and how it is run. we ended up turning in some real hogs. we made sure everyone was fishing in some good spots this year and it showed with the weight totals. i also let a few guys in on where they should go next year.like the top teams did last year lake erie was the place this year as well. it yieled the top 2 fish for weight wigh were 36 and 35 pounds. everyone that attended the shoot ,shot on lake erie or its tributaries.i guess that is why everyone agreed this was a great location for the tourney. also the owner of the american sportsman was an excellent host and said to me after that we are more than welcome to come back next year. the only change we are going to make next year is maybe if we have enough participation we will get a person to handle removing all of the fish.( I HOPE I SAID THAT IN AN ACCEPTABLE MANNER!!!!) one more thing i want to say about the whole thing is this....... as far as this site ( ohio sportsman)goes i hope i dont hear anymore talk of getting a club started or about tournaments. everyone on here was so gung ho about this stuff and when it comes down to it, like always they are all talk. i realize that things come up and people have to have their priorities but i know we had at least a dozen people on here jawing about this stuff and not one of those people made it ?? anyhow despite the weather everything turned out great and even last place got4 or 5 arrows and some points.you cant beat that. i hope next year we can see some of you guys on here make it

georg i am not trying to get on anyones case. i understand things come up but i think mostly it was the weather that kept people away. mark and put a lot of effort to make something like this a success and the next step obviously in this would be to start a club like everyone everyone wants. mark and i tryed to get some interest in this last year and like i said in this post all talk.... people do not have to travel all over to compete to be a part of a local shoot or club, but they do have to put some sort of effort out to make things happen.i just hope next year things will be different. i know all of the people that attended this year which was 25 people voted to keep the tourney in the same place with the same format( big 20). and i would bet you a million bucks next year we will have some people that did not attend complain about location or the format or something and they could have been here to make their opinon known. we kicked around the idea of taking it down to the ohio river but not one person liked that idea.we want everyone to be involved and have a good time and take some things home from the shoot that will help them in their everyday bowfishing. i know there were a couple guys who said they learned alot last year from asking the top guys questions. and it showed because they did alot better this year. that is what these things ( tournaments and clubs) are all about.i know i got my butt kicked around for many years while traveling all over the u.s.a. competing in tourneys, but it made me alot better. but these are the places that you meet people with the same interests and share info like where you go to shoot large fish or numbers of fish and how you go about doing it. anyhow to conclude this speech..........i am not getting on anyone. i would just like to see more people get involved . it is a blast meeting people and sharing stories and such. i know i look forward every year for certain shoots that i attend in places like alabama, new york, louisiana, michigan, kentucky and my favorite of all texas. i love these places because i get to hook up with friends for the weeekend that i have met over the years and do some bowfishing which is what this is all about TRACY HARPER ohio guy
it was a good shoot this year guys,it was set up nice good location and acess to freeways was close, wish more guys could have made it but we made do with what was there.i learned a lot from last year like where not to go,go north young man not south lol..may go more north next year. but like i said thanks guys and gals for puttin on a good one i,m sure next years will be as good or better.... snag

Good job Tracy and Mark!!
Your right lots of people wanted to go,even myself. But Getting hit with a divorce just before the tournament was why I couldn't come. But your right, all talk and no action. Glad we can plan now to be at the next years tournament up at lake erie. I'm trying to get back on my feet and will be at next years tournament.

All I heard from the guys in this forum was how they wanted to have more bowfishing tournaments in the state and how they all wanted to get a club started but when it comes right down to it it's all talk!!!I know that things come up and guys can not always do every thing that they want to but we didn't get an entry from any of the guys who said they would be there..And now they aren't even posting on this forum any more...Why??I posted the results for the shot so that people could see the types of weights that the teams brought back and to get some feed back..But the only person who posted anything dosen't even bowfish..(Sorry Jerry & Clarence forgot you posted also) So where are the rest of you hiding??

I believe we all know what you are trying to say here whit,I have seen things come and go to and i know what you mean about people not showing up i was president of a archery club for 5 years and i know what you mean, but things come up and people just can't make everything they like to,They have to many fish to fry and not enough time to do it.And yes i did say that i was going to try and make it to the shoot but i choose to go and do something else that weekend. If this is what you are after then my apologies. There were several reason why i could not make the classic this year and one was not getting off untill 1am the night before and then having to drive 2 hours to make a 7am meeting,Also i had a partner that could not make it so was not going to drive up by myself, another reason is i had no clue where to even start looking for my fish up in that area, and another big reason was the weather which does not bother me but when you go out three to four nights and you are not seeing any fish it just gets you upset, but will do my research for next year and be alittle more prepared for that area.As for my bowfishing this year so far it has really stinking water is always muddy and the river has been flood up in this area so i have not been out bowfishing in about a month so i have nothing to report,**** i have even tried to fish for these guys and still not even catching them.I hope you understand here and like is said my apologizies

CD,
There is no need to apologize..Like I said I know sometimes things come up and you don't always get to do all the things you would like to..But for months there have been people on here saying that they were going to be there for sure and not one of them showed..Thats who the All Talk And No Action comment was aimed at..

You guys deserve a pat on the back for putting on a great tourny. I'm know you put a lot of time, money, and effort into it, and even though I could not make it, I appreciate what you guys did. I wouldn't get frustrated over the turnout. Hell, I bet Caseville didn't start with more than a handfull of teams. Just keep putting it on every year, and I am very sure it will grow.
I tried to make it this year, but I had no boat and my river had only a few fish. Ask Jake how many times I bugged him to take me along if he shot! I posted on here, Mud Shark, bugged friends with boats, offered to give up my honey holes just for a ride- but I guess it wasn't meant to be....I even got that weekend off work in case something turned up.
My point is sometimes stuff happens...or in this case doesn't happen. It looks like everyone on here that wanted to go just couldn't. I don't think any of us were just talkin crap about going. Hopefully this doesn't discourage you from putting the tourny on every year.
Oh yeah, a BIG congrats to you and Tracy! That is a MONSTER barrel of fish. Ave. weight of almost 30lbs. Very impressive.
