After window shopping and comparing, I finally came off of some of my hard earned jack and bought a new set-up yesterday.

Renegade Alpha 1 (Flamethrower Cam)
Trophy Ridge Matrix sight
Quicktune 3000 rest
NAP ShockBlocker stabilizer
Limbsavers
a fresh dozen GoldTip XT carbons

Shot today, and I love this thing! I'd recommend Renegade bows to anyone. It's only 31.5" axle to axle, fast, quiet, and accurate(if I knew how to post a picture I'd show you guys!) Their made in the USA, lifetime warranty, and just a bit more expensive than a Buckmaster G2, and a little less than a Mathews. Anyone looking for a new bow should check these out.

:D

I get the same feeling, when I window shop along a fence line and see a Osage that's straight enough to get a bow out of. I take off running to my truck to head home to get my old hand drill with a 1/2 inch bit. Out of breath and back at the tree I drill a hole near where i can see a finished bow and check to see if the annual rings are what I want. if so, I will cut what I need and head back home. After dreaming about how It will look for about three years ( drying time ). I'll let chips "FLY". and very soon ,so will a arrow!!!

when i harvest any wood for a bow it is never a live tree,i take what the gods give me which usually is a lightning struck tree or one that has fell over.i havent found one yet i cant make some kinda bow or bows from...the wood guides me and tells me how to do it...

OK, now this is kinda scary. When ever I seen an aluminum can it tells me to pick it up so it can be recycled and turned into a machined riser for a Mathews bow.....

Thunderflight....elitest in the making......:) :) :)

George, the craziest stave I ever got was from a Osage. that was torn out of the ground from a tornado in Medina County ,Ohio. The wood came from underground. The root was about six feet long and about six round. Did you ever make a "ROOT" bow?

One more thing, if you only take dead wood, I'm wondering if you only eat "ROAD KILL TOO" There is some good cooking in the Road Kill Cookbook! at you local book store!

Welhp, my new used bow showed up in the mail today.......

Looks like I'm one lucky sucker!!!!!:)

I won a 60#@28 inch Bear Grizzly recurve with a Kwikee Quiver, Sights and a NEW string on ebay for $61 (including shipping).

SHE'S A SHOOTER!!!!!!!!!!!!! :) :) :) :)

She's a lil beat up and the finish is starting to come off, but the limbs are straight and there aren't any real problems with her.

I do need a new rest and some string silencers wouldn't hurt, but otherwise she's gonna be my new hog hunt'n bow....:)

What was the diference between the Kodiak and the Grizzly?

george tinkham
06-13-2003, 08:11 PM
kodiaks thru the yrs. was usually a little bit fanciar an higher priced

Thunderflight
06-13-2003, 08:41 PM
You know I did notice that you don't see to many 60 pound Grizzlies.

I also noticed that it's alot easier to shoot than my long bow too.

Sorry, I'm not sure what the differences are between the kodiac and grizzly.

George,

I checked out 3 Rivers Archery's website. I was actually looking for a hair rest that stuck out. All I saw was stick on pads for shooting off the shelf.

Which do you think is better?

Off the shelf or off the rest?

Thanks,

TF

i use what many consider traditional which is the bearhair rest an the sideplate.but the plastic bear weather rest like is on the bow now were used a lot in the 60s an 70s as was the bristle brush rests of all shapes that stuck straight out from where the sideplate is.i like shooting off the shelf with bair hair rest as it places the arrah closer to the hand giving better hand eye coordination which is needed in what we call instinktive shootin...the more elevated rests were common with sights
