We are giving the game away, who on earth runs head long into a punter.
We gave them 1 touchdown and helped them along on the others. Get in the game Buckeyes.
Tom
How long before the guy that hit the punter gets some death threats?

the penalties cost ohio state momentum and points.
even with the loss for the national title i think they can still hold their heads up.making it back to the big game in itself was an accomplishment for a team that was picked to finish 3rd in the conference.

I bleed scarlet and grey!! Thinking like this is pure b.s.!! Once again outclassed, outcoached, and outplayed by the SEC. The honeymoon is coming to a close, Tressel. This is what happens when you are playing Akron and your opponent is playing Virginia Tech. The only player on the OSU team who showed up tonight was Beanie Wells. Give him the Ball!!!! How many more years are we gonna sit here and lie to ourselves only to have our faces in the SEC's butt??? Thank god we played Michiga on Nov 17 and not Jan 1. :mischeif: :irked: :irked:
I am all for Ohio State but they just can't play national title games.
They look like are high school football team ...... they look good at the start of the game but then after that they go down hill slowly.
You knwo what..how many WEEKS did they have to throw in some new plays? anybody? Boechman gonna have to learn to READ defenses and call audibles... or move over.
Did anyone esles ntoice and overall football theme last night in regards to LSU's Major's their boys are in?
INTRADISCIPLINARY STUDIES? W T F?
all you need is a heartbeat to get into an SEC school.... DANG basket weaving at its finest...I got a severe laugh out of that. :16suspect1:

OK, I have to step in. That is one of the most ridiculous OSU-related posts I have ever seen. Tressel has taken this team to what, 6 BCS games since he has been there? 3 Big Ten championships? 3 National Title game appearances? And you think the "honeymoon is coming to a close?"
The outcome of this game had nothing to do with who they played or didn't play, nothing to do with what conference a team was from, or anything else. Let's face it, LSU was the better team! OSU was not supposed to be playing for a title this year, they were supposed to only be the 3rd or 4th best team from the Big Ten. The loss last night had more to do with the long layoff than anything else, if you ask me. They were sloppy, plain and simple. Sloppy tackling, sloppy penalties, dropped passes, etc...
LSU was not great at the end of the regular season, but they got healthy in the layoff, which changed them tremendously. Look at the stats from the game last night, OSU played pretty well, they just made too many mistakes. If Robiskie doesn't drop that TD when it was 10-10, if a few of those 15-yard penalties don't happen, it would have been a COMPLETELY different ballgame.

cream,
thank you,good post!
i can't stand the "all or nothing " way of thinking that so many of the supposed buckeye faithful have.cheering, taligating and buying t-shirts when they win but ready to lynch when they lose.sometimes i think i like michigan fans better!
some osu fans will NEVER be happy! doesn't anyone remember the cooper years?
those kids played WAY beyond anyones expectations this year and people still complain.i guess that's just life though.

I love the sweatervest. But I am very disappointed in him right now. That team played sloppy and afraid after they went up 10-0. We should have one that game. We could have shown how good we really are. But even at that, I believe USC is the best team in the country. We only made it to the title game because we handled our business, which was weak, and we got some luck late in the season. But no one has a claim to being more deserving. WVU lost to Pitt. Georgia couldn't even play for their conference title. USC lost to Stanford. We lost to a BCS team. Not the doormats of our conferences.
Congrats to LSU for showing up a proving the SEC really is faster than the Big 10. We need to start recruiting more speed...

I'll have to agree with the cream...penalties and turnovers. You can count the punter penalty as a turnover too. Bonehead play to go along with the other bonehead penalties. Take those away and I think its a better game. LSU probabally still wins but a better game still. I didn't think speed was that big an issue. Their pass coverage was a big deal. It looked like #33 showed up to me.
Give me Tressel any day, how soon do we forget the Cooper era? Class guy who runs a class program. Same for LSU, it was nice to see a game where for the most part it wasn't a bunch of taunting and in your face crap with flips into the end zone...
I like Boekman, nice kid, but you're not gonna ride that horse very long before it starts smellin bad.
Milo, I'm with you on the Inderdisiplinary Studies thing ***?
Did anyone else get sick of the commentator, what ever his name is? Thom Brennaman did a great job, the other guy was pretty impressed with the sound of his own voice and didn't he jump off the OSU bandwagon faster than Brent Musburger would have as soon as the momentum changed?
I wish it was a better game but I think the end result is what it sould have been.
At the end of the day I've still got to get up and go to work tomorrow, it's just a football game. Now if I'd bet my house payment on it.....

One observation - TOSU not having a true speed receiver hurt as very bad in this game. LSU could load up and play man to man on our receivers with complete confidence and we could do nothing about it. Our guys only got behind them a couple times and it was by a step or 2.
OSU did have a young team, but if they played a clean game could have been in it to the end. OSU mistackled 1st half terribly and the penalties took the wind out of our sails - very discouraging from a Tressel team. LSU was the more mature and better overall team.
I'm very pleased with the season despite what the national folks will say. I would have bet a $100 bill before the season started that we weren't going to a BCS game period and 10 wins were looking good. Even with the departure of a few key juniors we will be a much stringer team next year. And look out for Beanie Wells - if Tressel lets him have the ball the 1st few games (USC second game) he may approach 2,000 yards; he is a special talent.

I agree about the speed receiver point. Ray Small may be the fastest OSU receiver, but I didn't see him out there much, and I definitely didn't see many balls going his way. It seemed to be all Hartline and Robiskie, and they are more "posession receivers." No real break-away speed there.
Enjoy Beanie next year, because I bet it's his last in Columbus!

I thought it was a good game, Yes we made our mistakes, unfortunately LSU was the better team last night. While we will lose a few juniors to the NFL they pretty much lose everything, 3 of 4 DBs, 2 LBs and 2 DLs anlong with their best 2 receivers, QB, best RB and 2 OL. And thats just the seniors!! They will be in the same position we are in this year, next year, let's see if they play for the national championship then.

My thoughts on the game and the team.
If this game were played......maybe at a neutral site..........maybe closer to Ohio.....say for instance........the RCA Dome and we went up 10-0 then how do you suppose the rest of the game would have gone? The same?
Tressel and his coaching staff have done very well in a lot of BIG games: Championship win over Miami U, bowl win over ND, @ Texas and many wins overthat team up north. However, his defensive cordinator has to improve or be replaced.
I felt the team played their butts off. The penalties and roughing the punter were stupid mistakes. I also think LSU happened to play their best game of the year and anything less and they would have been in trouble even though the Buckeyes had made several mistakes in the game.
This is a young team. I hope some of the underclassmen come back next year. This coaching staff is really good at developing talent so these guys will get better.
QB Todd Boekman(splling?) is a good QB, but he has to give up his mindset of throwing the deep ball short so his WR's can make a play on the ball. I actually heard him say this in an interview. That is the easiest pass in the world to intercept. I think he may have learned that lesson Monday night.

I agree, especially about Boeckman underthrowing passes. Intentionally underthrowing deep routes can work very well if the cornerback or safety doesn't look back for the ball. If the defender looks back and sees the ball, you're right, it can be an easy pick.
I hope Laurinaitis, Gholston, and Jenkins come back, but if they are going to be 1st rounders and millionaires I can hardly blame them for jumping. This year's run was unexpected by most people because the team is so young. Next year they will be expected to contend again, especially if they don't lose many early draft entries.
And don't get me started on venues for these games. It is a built in unfair advantage for southern teams to get to play their bowl games in LA and Florida. Do you think those SEC teams would cry foul if the bowl games were held in Detroit, Chicago, Cleveland, or Minneapolis? You bet they would.

Ohio is a young team and it seems you should be right back next season. If you can take care of the game the 3 week that is, and yeah....I'll be pulling for them Buckeyes that week for sure.
We have lost our complete first string due to graduation....so...I just hope we can do well in the SEC. I have not confirmed it yet but I have heard we have to play Ga. next season and I'm sure they are going to make an example out of us....for they are not loosing much this draft/graduation season either. They should be very strong this season.

Yep, I think the SEC will be up to Ga and Fla next year... And I think OSU will contend for the National Championship again.
