Buddy and I took his boat down below a dam on the Ohio on Sunday. Apparently a lot of folks had the same idea, because there was a good bit of boat traffic and even a few shore anglers. We caught a bunch of sauger, and 1 walleye a piece. My walleye was around 13-15", my buddy's was a lot smaller. There were lots of other fishermen, but none doing as well as we were. We tend to fish with a much more subtle approach than the folks we see, and don't fish them with what we call "power jigging." I always get a kick out of the guys ripping their bait about 3-4' off the bottom with each jigging motion using tackle heavy enough to land a 6lb bass in heavy cover. They are probably wondering why we're not doing the same...and catching more fish than they are! :mischeif: :D
C'mon fellas, they're SAUGERS! Be a man and use light tackle! :coolgleamA:
