Where Have The Ringneck Phesants Gone

Hello Out There,

Well I,m new to this site . Just kinda stumbled on it looking for infomation on ringneck pheasants.Looks like a interesting site .I love the out doors I,m not a hunter but I enjoy scouting the out doors for wild life.I spend a lot of time in national parks and country rides . I live in the city near some wooded land near railroad tracks.We use to see phesants in the yard daily even had a few fly into the windows. In the last 15 years I have not seen one, I live in northeast ohio.Near the old Goodyear plants .Can anybody give me a clue

It pretty much boiled down to two things that bad winter back in the late 70's that really whacked them and a major loss of habitat. I think the habitat was already on it's way down hill at that point and that winter just amplified the problem. There are still a handful of birds around up here but pretty few and far between.
