I WAS WONDERING IF ANY OF YALL OUT THERE COULD GIVE ME SOME POINTERS ON A CROSSBOW I BOUGHT LATE LAST FALL. THE BOW IS A HORTON BLACKHAWK. I BOUGHT IT BRAND NEW FROM THE LOCAL OUTDOORS STORE (BUCKEYE OUTDOORS). THE FIRST TIME I SHOT IT I COULD'NT HIT THE TARGET @ 15 YARDS!!! IT WOULD HOLD WAY LOW EVEN HITTING THE GROUND WITH A FEW SHOTS!! SO I WENT BACK TO THE STORE AND BOUGHT SOME BREMAN CARBON BOLTS THINKING THAT THE BOLTS THAT CAME WITH THE BOW WHERE SOMEHOW MESSED UP. THESE BOLTS WHERE NOT REALLY BETTER, IN FACT THEY WHERE MAYBE WORSE BECAUSE THEY WHERE ALL OVER THE PLACE, LOW, HIGH, LEFT RIGHT, YOU NAME IT!! THE BOW HAS A CROSSBOW SCOPE AND I USED FEILD TIPS TO GET IT SIGHTED IN. NEEDLESS TO SAY I DID'NT GET TO USE IT IN THE WOODS (BIG SUPRISE THERE). IT IS ALMOST TIME TO GET THINGS STARTED FOR BOW SEASON SO IF ANYONE HAS ANY POINTERS OR SUGESTIONS FEEL FREE TO SPOUT OFF !!!

In my hunter supreme I get the best accuracy from heavy aluminum bolts.
Is it you, are you shooting from a bench?

Here’s what I would do.
Make a trip up the Outdoor Sportsmen on RT 3 in Sundbury.
See Steve Darling tell him you have a Crossbow you need to tune.
They will charge you 5 or 10 bucks to use the range and provide all the help you could ever want.
You may want to call ahead and make an appointment. There are other guys there who can help. But I would go with Steve.

YEA, I WAS SHOOTIN FROM A BENCH, THAT WAS WHAT WAS WEIRD ABOUT IT!! I STARTED AT 15 YARDS, JUST TO SEE WHERE IT WAS AND GO FROM THERE. I LOOKED LIKE AN IDIOT WHO COULD'NT HIT THE BROAD SIDE OF A BARN!

Are you using a scope?

If so your scope may be broken.

I keep a few Horton Hunters in hand for.friends to use. I also use them here and there. Use alum. (Horton) bolts and three bladed Mussy 125's and the'll shoot great. If not, its you? or maybe bad crossbow.

My quess would be a poorly mounted scope. Take the scope off and see if it's more consistent. Even the worst of crossbows should never shoot that bad at 15 yards.

Your crossbow should be accurate so I would have to agree with the rest of the members and say it was a scope, sight problem or some malfunction on the part of the crossbow.
