No doubt about it, nice work. I just love some of the schemes he comes up with, it definitely makes the mount stand apart from most I've seen. Dan is truely a master craftsman.

I forgot the best part, it's American made.

Remember him when your time comes to mount a fish. Let's take care of our sponsors. :)

Does he do fiberglass reproductions?

I'm not into killing a fish so I can mount it. That's just me and not a jab toward others.

i think your work is beautiful.truely proffesional and creative.if ever i were to have a mount done,i would have no qualms about shipping a fish to you and paying your fees, whatever they would be,for what i would consider a masterpiece.your work shows that you take great pride in what you do,which is a sign of a true master craftsman.

Very nice mounts....i do have a question about your pricing...at $10/in., is the mount seamless? ie. both sides? if not it seems a bit steep.
Dont take this wrong your work is superb, but i have shoped around a great deal and finally settled on a guy that is reputed to be the top guy in ohio and he is significantly less and his work is the best i have ever seen. However, this price is based on a 1 sided mount. Also, what is your turn-around time? This is the main drawback for the other guy i am dealing with....he has 700+ guys in front of me (and thats just Walleye), so it will be 8 months before i get my fish. IMO his work is worth the wait.

Again just a few questions from a guy that is planning on getting many mounts...your work is great!!:)

ShoreBoundOne, Not a problem with all the questions. I am always glad to answer. $10.00 per inch is for a wall mount. I am just staying competitive in my area. There are taxidermists in my area that charge more and some that charge less. I am just charging what I feel my time is worth. What my pictures probably do not show well is alot of fine detail I put into my mounts after it is airbrushed. Depending on the species of fish and coloration I can spend countless hours with a fine detail paintbrush, handpainting gold or silver tips on each individual scale or spot patterns on trout and salmon. This is above and beyond what i am seeing other taxidermists in my area doing. The walleye pictured has every scale tipped with either gold or shades of yellow to really give it a realistic look. You need to see it in person to appreciate the detail. That is why I invite every customer to come to my showroom to see my work before they make a decision.

It is kind of like big business in a way. If the guy you referred to is putting out the kind of numbers of fish you stated than he can charge a lower price and still make a good profit. I am lucky to do 150 to 200 fish in a year. That is all species. I have been specializing in fish taxidermy for awhile but have really been advertising my services within the last couple years trying to build my business. My normal turnaround time is usually about 8 - 10 weeks. May get a little longer in the peak of summer. I work by myself and every fish that goes out of my shop is done by me personally. They do not leave until I am 100% satisfied with the mount. I hope this answers your questions. If you have anymore feel free to ask.:)
